What should I know about Luxembourg?
With an area of slightly more than 2,500 square kilometers, Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in the entire world. In spite of this small size, however, there are still plenty of great outdoor activities to try out.
The most popular are hiking and trail running in the summer. In fact, Luxembourg boasts several popular long distance trails, including the aforementioned Escapardenne Eislek Trail.
Away from these long distance trails, there are plenty of other great places to explore. Among the hiking hot spots in the little country is Oesling, which is home to many medieval castles and ancient villages. Hiking through the hills and passing through these towns is the perfect way to disconnect from Europe’s busy urban areas and reconnect with its natural splendor.
Why should I choose Luxembourg for my adventure?
Stunning scenery
In spite of its small size, Luxembourg boasts plenty of beautiful scenery. From the rolling hills and forests of the Ardennes to the numerous waterfalls on its various rivers, there’s plenty of natural wonder to experience when you head out into this tiny wilderness.
Run cross country, literally
In the northern reaches of the country, where the beautiful Ardennes are found, the country only has a width of 10 to 15 kilometers. For a dedicated trail runner or hiker, this means you could go from France to Germany in only a day. Take that rare opportunity to really run across an entire country.
Escapardenne
Known as one of Europe’s great long-distance trails, the Escapardenne Eislek Trail runs 106 kilometers from Belgium into Luxembourg. If you have the time, take a week off and explore the whole thing from one end to the other, meeting great people and passing through numerous idyllic cities and villages along the way.
What can I expect from the weather in Luxembourg?
Luxembourg exhibits a mostly Western European Continental Climate. The small country has mild winters and fairly cool summers with high amounts of rainfall.

The trip was fantastic. Beautiful scenery and landscapes together with majestic hills. We lived a camping lifestyle for two days which was very enjoyable and even though we were relieved to finish after a tough 2 day trek, we instantly missed the feeling of being in the outdoors and away from the city. Our guide Thibault was excellent. He was the perfect guide for the trip, so helpful and knew what he was doing - couldn’t ask for better.
