  • Traverse the stunning Hohlichtgletscher.
  • Enjoy amazing views of Zermatt from Trift.

Description

Culminating at the summit of the gorgeous Mettelhorn peak (3,406m), this full day trek will take you from Zermatt and back. And throughout the journey, you will get to see why the Alps are visited by people from around the world.

This trek is long and challenging. The time needed to complete the journey is approximately 8.5 hours. During that time, we will be covering nearly 15 kilometers. We will also be ascending and descending approximately 1,790 meters. As a result of the time, distance and type of terrain we will be trekking on, it is important that participants are in good physical condition.

The adventure will start in the beautiful town of Zermatt. From there, we will take a zig-zagging, steep and exposed path to Trift (2,337m). After that, we will pass the Blatterhorn and the Hohlichtgletscher before reaching the summit of the Mettelhorn. From the amazing summit, you will get ample opportunity to gaze at the peaks, valleys and mountain huts spread throughout the Alps of Switzerland.

The descent will take us back to Trift and then on to Edelweiss. There you can enjoy spectacular views of Zermatt, which we will then make our way to to conclude the trip.

To be able to reach the summit of a great peak, traverse a glacier and trek through steep, arduous terrain in just one day is quite an adventure. And while it will be challenging, the rewards are definitely worth it. To join this day long expedition, all you have to do is send me a request.

What people are saying about ES Adventure Guides

Peter

This was a great trip and Explore Share made finding the right trip super easy. Our guide was personable, extremely knowledgeable, and experienced and willing to teach us the skills we would have needed to climb the Matterhorn. Unfortunatly, the conditions were not right to climb so our guide recemmended another trip which was still a great experience and lots of fun.

Emma

Very user friendly platform with timely responses from Explore Share representatives. The trip itself with Tom from Alps Adventures was awesome and ensure that we had an experience that was 100% what we wanted. Recommend both the platform and the guide. Thanks to all for arranging and delivering so well.

I had am amazing time during the 1-day off-piste training course at Hoch-Ybrig. Urs, our main mountain guide, was very helpful in answering my queries before the course, and Lupe from explore-share was helpful in selecting the course. We had 3 groups under Urs, Mario and Patrick, and I was in the group with Patrick. He gave us a lot of nice tips and individualized video analysis. He made a special effort to convey everything in English, since I don't know German. All the participants were very helpful and friendly too! The course is good value for money as skis are included for the weekend in the course price.
