Would you like to learn or expand your knowledge in snow avalanches? I have prepared an ideal course for you that will take place in north Slovakia. You will learn everything you need to know how to proceed in case of an avalanche accident.
The goal of this weekend course is that you learn how to handle avalanche equipment and how to solve or prevent problems related to it. I will also teach you how to test the stability of the snow. By the end of the course you will master the basic rules of safe mountain skiing movement.
As for the itinerary of this weekend course in north Slovakia, we will meet on Friday afternoon for a brief introductory talk on types of snow and avalanches. The next day we will go for some cross-country skiing as well as carry out a practical training to test the stability of the snow. In the afternoon, I will give you a new class about decision and planning of a ski tour taking into account the terrain, the avalanche forecast and its risks.
Finally, on Sunday we will do a ski tour putting into practice our new theoretical knowledge and also doing a real rescue practice. At the end of this avalanche course in north Slovakia, each participant will receive a certificate.
You must bring skins, skis, adjustable ski poles, backpack of 30-35 liters, avalanche gear (borrowed) headlight and spare batteries. Also remember to bring suitable clothes such as thermal clothing, jacket and snow pants, warm jacket, hat, normal and ski gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, spare underwear. Finally, important for the course: a notepad and pen!
So if you find this avalanche course interesting send your request and book your place now. It’ll be my pleasure to share all my expertise!
To complement your knowledge I invite you to check out my ski touring course in the High Tatra mountains.

Mountain Guide
I was born in Poprad and I live, work and relax in the High Tatras. I have been climbing in this region for 15 years both in summer and winter.
Since 2001 I am a professional rescuer with a completed Bachelor education in Urgent Medical Care. Furthermore, I work in The Experts Mountain Rescue Service (in High Tatras) as an avalanche specialist.
In 2009, after passing the entrance examination for mountain guiding, I started the roundabout course. In April 2010, I became a mountain guide aspirant in the National Association of Mountain Guides of the Slovak Republic.
In 2011, during the final course in Chamonix - Mont Blanc (France) I successfully completed the course of mountain guide during four days of tests, under the strict supervision of Technical Commission NAHVSR instructors. Since then, I am a mountain guide with the IFMGA / UIAGM international license.
Thanks to this job (and hobby) I am pleased to expand the horizons of my clients and share with them my knowledge and experience as a mountain guide.

We spent 2 days with Pavol as he introduced us to ice climbing. Upon meeting him, we were pleased with his professionalism and his impressive experiences climbing around the world. It didn't take long for us to realise his expertise on the mountain, as well as his passion and down to earth attitude. Over 2 days, in 2 different locations, we got learn the basics of ice climbing on some serious ice falls. He gave us advice on techniques and strategies to get us climbing higher and more efficiently. The whole time Pavol made us feel very safe and in control, as daunting as ice climbing may be. In the end we had a great time and learnt a lot, and he left us hungry for more. He definitely showed us this is a sport and passion we can keep following. We hope to climb with Pavol again next time we visit Europe.
