Join us on a 3-day trip to visit the Lauca National Park in northern Chile and explore the rich biodiversity of its surrounding areas.
Beginning from the bustling markets of Arica, we’ll head towards the famous Caves of Anzota which offer a glimpse of Chinchorro culture. From there, we’ll continue towards Morro of Arica to enjoy panoramic views of the steep hill. The tour leads to the beautiful Azapa valley to spot the geoglyphs of Cerro Sombrero or the Geoglyphos de la Tropilla.
Mount Cerro Sagrado, Las Llosyas, the Archaeological Museum of San Miguel of Azapa, the Pukara de Copaquilla fort, and Iglesia de San Gerónimo, are just a few of the many attractions we’ll cover on this trip.
We’ll visit not one but three natural parks there- National Reserve of the Vicuñas, Vulcano Isluga National Park and the Lauca National Park. It will be enriching to explore the rich biodiversity of these areas where we will see parinas, ducks, vizcachas, and taguas.
The highlight of the trip will be a visit to the Surire salt lake. White salt deposits in contrast to the blue waters of the lagoon offer outstanding sights. The lake preserves multiple species like the ostrich (ñandu), flamingo, vicuña, alpaca and the llama, among others.
Next, we’ll head towards Arabilla lagoon, a beautiful site surrounded by small bofedales (wetlands). The tour also includes a visit to two thermal baths- one at Polloquere and the other at Jurasi. We guarantee that you’ll be truly refreshed after taking a dip in their healing waters.
Before ending this trip, we’ll stop by the magical Chungara lake. And as you see the marvelous reflection of Parinacota volcano on the surface of the crystal clear lake water, you’ll be simply spellbound!
