FAQs

If we wanted to climb in the Verdon Gorge, where would we go and how would we get there if we were staying in Nice?

I recommend going to La Palud sur Verdon, which is the meeting point I always give. After it, we can carpool the short distance to the climb.

I am a boulderer, and I am looking for some guided climbs to learn ropes. Is it something you can help me with?

Yes, that’s definitely something I could help you with!

When is the best time to visit Verdon Gorges for climbing?

The ideal seasons for climbing in the Verdon Gorges are spring and fall. During these times, the temperatures are more conducive to climb, and you can enjoy routes both in the sun and in the shade. In spring (April to June), the weather is mild, and the landscape is lush with blossoming flora. The fall (September to November) brings cooler temperatures, making it comfortable to climb without the intense heat of summer.

During the summer months (June to mid-September), climbing can still be enjoyable, but it's advisable to stick to shaded areas to avoid the heat, especially during the peak of summer. Overall, while climbing can be done year-round, spring and fall offer the most favorable conditions for a memorable experience in the Verdon Gorges.

Rock Climbing Instructor

My love for climbing was born from growing up in the Rocky Mountains of the United States. My parents took me climbing as a young child, instilling in me a passion for the sport. It was this passion that brought me to France in 2017: a thirst to explore the legendary cliffs of Provence, the birthplace of sport climbing, and home to the towering multi pitch walls of the Verdon Gorge. As a climbing guide, I hope to impart to my clients not only safe climbing techniques, but also an appreciation of these magnificent outdoor cathedrals as well as a love of vertical movement in all its forms.

The whole process has been very smooth considering how unstable the current situation is! Explore-share were in contact proactively ready to assist if I needed them and the team behind the guide were also very helpful. The climbing was very beautiful and the guide knew his stuff, the route was well picked and I was absolutely shattered by the end! Would recommend climbing in Verdon to anyone interested.

Kira was super. E/S communcation channels are a bit clunky. Emails to WhatsApp to internal chat box. The same messages on too many channels. Streamline the communication channel and you'll get a 5+! That said I did enjoy everyone's energy and entusiasm re the adventure. Thx!
