Description

Small, but gorgeous, Velky Kysel is an amazing place to see and explore.

Just walking through the Slovak Paradise National Park would make for a great experience on its own. However, on this day trip, I would like to guide you on a via ferrata adventure at the Velky Kysel. This recently reopened area is absolutely stunning. It is filled with lovely waterfalls, rivers, brooks, plantlife and gorges. The natural landscape is definitely worth admiring.

Initially exploring by via ferrata can seem intimidating. However, you will be properly secured with harnesses and wires the entire time. Thus ensuring your experience will be as safe as it is fun!

We will be meeting at one of Spisska Nova Ves, Poprad or Čingov. From one of those places, we will hike for approximately 2 hours along Čingov until we reach the via ferrata. The via ferrata path through Velky Kysel will take approximately 2 to 3 hours and will lead you to the top of the gorge. After that, we will begin our descent to Klaštorisko, where we will rest. Finally, to end the trip, we will hike for another 2 hours to Čingov.

Velky Kysel is a remarkable place. Due to its closure following an enormous forest fire 40 years earlier, the area is full of untouched nature. Hence making this trip through the area a unique experience. And exploring it along a via ferrata only adds to the uniqueness of the trip. So send me a request, and visit the Slovak paradise.

Would you like to hike through the High Tatras of Slovakia? Then join me on this day long trip to the top of the Velka Svistovka and down to the Green lake valley.

The tour takes between 6 and 8 hours. We’ll be hiking around 4 hours, and we’ll be on the via ferrata for 2–3 hours.

My guiding service and the via ferrata kit are included in the price of this tour.

Mountain Leader

I'm a UIMLA mountain leader and national tourist guide (for cultural and historical heritage trips).

I was born in Poprad in 1969. From my early childhood, I often looked out my bedroom window into the distance of the picturesque High Tatras, which fascinated me even then. In high school I started going with my friends to a small climbing "expedition" on the surrounding rocks, and later to the High Tatras. Mostly I went with a friend whose father was a member of the Mountain Rescue Service. During my studies at Comenius University in Bratislava, I loved coming back to the mountains.
In 1999 I started actively volunteering paramedic of the Tatra Mountain Rescue Service, and then I was hired there.
Precisely because of my relationship with the mountains I began working as a tourist guide with a focus on mountain areas.
Since 1998 I accompany tourists from around the world to the mountains and surrounding towns.
In 2011 I got certified as mountain leader.
Besides, I have been working as a member of the Council of the Slovak Association of mountain Leaders since it was established in 2011.

Lonneke

Marcel is a great guide. He showed us the beauty of slovak paradise, told great stories about the Slovakian history and nature, made fun, and supported us well during the via ferrata trail. We would highly recommend this trip with Marcel as a guide.

Kristen

We had a wonderful trip with Michal. He met with us the evening before to go over the plan for the via Ferrata and answered all our questions. He took some wonderful photos of the trip and was so patient with our children. We felt completely safe the whole time and highly recommend the trip!

Chloe

Marcel was my guide today in Slovak Paradise National Park and I had a fantastic day. It was a tough walk but well worth it. Marcel is a super friendly guide, speaks good English and is very experienced. If you decide to go hiking in Slovakia, I definitely recommend that you contact Marcel.

Audrey

Marcel is a great and experienced guide! He was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. We felt safe in his hands and enjoyed the hike + via ferrata experience with him. We highly recommend Marcel.

Erica

Marcel wasn't able to complete this trip with us, but he provided another certified guide named Veronika who provided an excellent trip! The area was beautiful and the Via Ferrata was a lot of fun. We recommend being prepared for a long (but beautiful) hike before reaching the Via Ferrata and having your own snacks. Luckily Veronika had some delicious food to share with us :)
