With such an abundance of great places to explore in the High Tatras, it is hard to decide where to go. So on this day long hike, I would like to guide you to the top of the Velka Svistovka peak (2,038m). And afterwards, on the way down, I would like to take you to the beautiful Green lake valley.
The trip will begin at Stary Smokovec (1,000m). From there, we will hike to Hrebienok. Afterwards, we will make our way around the wondrous Obrovsky waterfall until we reach the Skalnate pleso ski resort (1,750m). After some rest, we will trek to the summit of the Velka Svistovka. While this peak is not the highest in the Tatras the panoramic views it offers are some of the best in the range.
After you’ve enjoyed the summit of the Velka Svistovka, we will make our way down to the Green lake valley. During the descent, you will encounter approximately 50 metres of technically easy chains. When we reach the Green lake valley, we will stop at a hut. There, we will enjoy lunch and more great views before going to the Biela voda bus stop. We will then take a public bus back to Stary Smokovec.
Exploring the Tatras mountains is a great way to spend a day. And on this wonderful hike, you will get to see the range from the top of a great mountain as well as from a beautiful valley. So send me a request, and let the trek begin.
Are you looking for a more challenging hike in the High Tatras? Then join me on this trek along the amazing Eagle path.

Mountain Leader
I'm a UIMLA mountain leader and national tourist guide (for cultural and historical heritage trips).
I was born in Poprad in 1969. From my early childhood, I often looked out my bedroom window into the distance of the picturesque High Tatras, which fascinated me even then. In high school I started going with my friends to a small climbing "expedition" on the surrounding rocks, and later to the High Tatras. Mostly I went with a friend whose father was a member of the Mountain Rescue Service. During my studies at Comenius University in Bratislava, I loved coming back to the mountains.
In 1999 I started actively volunteering paramedic of the Tatra Mountain Rescue Service, and then I was hired there.
Precisely because of my relationship with the mountains I began working as a tourist guide with a focus on mountain areas.
Since 1998 I accompany tourists from around the world to the mountains and surrounding towns.
In 2011 I got certified as mountain leader.
Besides, I have been working as a member of the Council of the Slovak Association of mountain Leaders since it was established in 2011.

Successful, safe and educational hike up and down Mt Rysy from Slovakian side. Provided detailed information on plants, rocks, animals and history of Slovakia. Adjusted pace but kept it challenging. Very good English.

The guide has wide knowledge of the area. He provide took care of our safety during the hike. Although we did it from Slovenia side, I just have to say thank you for the superb hike and great experiencie along our journey to the top. I didn’t find the hike difficult, however we got a really bad condition in our way to the top. Once we achieve the peak the sun rised.
