Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in the vibrant city of Kathmandu, blending medieval charm with modernity, you will receive a warm welcome from our office representative who will escort you to the hotel. After completing the check-in process and enjoying some refreshments, our senior Sherpa guide will meet you for a brief orientation about the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking adventure.

Then, you can take a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood, enjoy supper, and retire for the night. This marks your first overnight stay in the valley adorned with temples.

Day 2: Drive to Pokhara

Following breakfast, we depart from our hotel in the early morning for a scenic drive along the Prithivi National Highway to Pokhara. The journey typically takes approximately 7-8 hours, offering picturesque views along the way. Alternatively, you have the option to take a 25-minute flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara at an additional cost.

If we arrive in Pokhara early, we will embark on a short walk around Lakeside and visit the renowned Phewa Lake, a highlight of Pokhara. Afterwards, we will spend the night at our hotel by the lake in the charming 'city of lakes' on a Bed and Breakfast basis.

Day 3: Tikhedhunga trek

Our trek begins with a scenic one-hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, where our adventure begins to unfold. A leisurely 15-minute stroll along the banks of the Modi River leads us to Birethanti (1,015m), a lively village adorned with a variety of shops and teahouses. The trail then continues through the village, following the north bank of the Bhurungdi River.

As we gradually ascend the valley's slope, we reach Hille at 1,495m, followed by a brief climb to Tikhedhunga at 1,570m. This initial day's trek is relatively short and straightforward, serving as a gentle introduction to the Annapurna region trekking experience. The day concludes at a guesthouse, setting the stage for the journey ahead.

Day 4: Trekking to Ghorepani

After enjoying breakfast, we embark on our journey. Along the way, we traverse a suspension bridge and encounter numerous captivating waterfalls. The trail then ascends steeply for about one and a half hours until we reach a point above Ulleri (2080m). Ulleri, a quaint Magar village, offers stunning views of Mt. Annapurna South (7219m), and several lodges are available in the village. Continuing onwards to Banthathi, we are greeted with the sight of Mt. Machhapuchhare (6996m).

Then, we proceed towards Nangethanti (2460m) for a lunch break. After another hour of walking, we arrive at Ghorepani (2850m), and a further ten-minute walk leads us to Upper Ghorepani. Here, we reach the Deurali pass, which serves as a gateway to the Annapurna circuit, Jomsom Muktinath, and Annapurna Base Camp trek. This trek is also known as the Annapurna Panorama trek or Poon Hill trek. Ghorepani/Deurali boasts a large settlement with numerous lodges and shops, offering breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri South (6839m), Annapurna South (7219m), and Hiuchuli (6441m). We spend the night at a lodge.

Day 5: Poon Hill & Tadapani

Early in the morning, we rise to begin our ascent to the renowned Poon Hill vantage point, situated at an elevation of 3,210 meters. The hike to Poon Hill typically takes around 45 minutes. As the sun graces the horizon, we are treated to awe-inspiring views of the Himalayan panorama, with the majestic Dhaulagiri (8167m), the seventh highest peak in the world, to the west, and Manaslu (8156m), the eighth highest peak, to the east. Nestled amidst these giants lies the magnificent Annapurna range, offering a truly unforgettable spectacle.

Returning to our campsite, we indulge in a hearty breakfast. The initial segment of our journey involves ascending along the ridges of the hills, passing through pine and rhododendron forests, until we reach an altitude of 3030 meters. We then descend to the second pass, Deurali. The descent gradually eases as we approach Banthanti, where we pause for a well-deserved lunch break. Continuing from Banthanti, the trail follows a stream downward to a bridge before ascending towards Tadapani (2500m). We conclude our day's trek at our lodge, ready to rest and recharge.

Day 6: Explore Ghandruk and return to Pokhara

We set off from the village of Tadapani, making our way towards the renowned Ghandruk village. The trail is gentle and well-defined, guiding us through Bhaisikharka, a quaint village nestled along the route to Ghandruk. Ghandruk Village itself is a captivating destination, offering panoramic views of diverse mountains and landscapes. Here, you can immerse yourself in the local culture, explore the Gurung Museum, and experience the authentic atmosphere of a Gurung village.

After enjoying lunch in Ghandruk village, a brief 10-minute downhill walk brings us to Ghandrunk Danda, where we have the option of arranging local or private transportation for the journey back to Pokhara. The drive to Pokhara typically takes around 4 hours, passing through Syauli Bazaar, Birethati, Nayapul, before reaching our final destination in Pokhara. Upon arrival, we will transfer you to your hotel in Pokhara.

Day 7: Returning to Kathmandu

Start your day in Pokhara with a fulfilling breakfast at your hotel. Afterwards, make your way to the tourist bus park for a scenic 7-hour drive to Kathmandu. Enjoy the journey as you traverse diverse landscapes and soak in the picturesque views along the banks of the Marshyangdi and Trishuli rivers.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can relax and reminisce about the experiences of your journey. This road trip offers a perfect blend of comfort and adventure, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of Nepal as you transition from Pokhara to the vibrant city of Kathmandu. Your Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek concludes here.

Day 8: Saying goodbye to Nepal

On our final day in Kathmandu, after enjoying breakfast, our vehicle and escorts will be ready to accompany you to the international airport, ensuring you arrive three hours prior to your scheduled flight back home. What people are saying about Explore-Share

Man

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Valeriya

You’re simply the best!!! :))) Explore-Share made everything easy and stress-free. Will definitely use again.

Joshua

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Cami

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
