The Lahuen Ñadi natural monument is a hiking trail that extends of 600 meters. And it is, undoubtedly, one of the most impressive nature wonders in the Chilean Patagonia.
This paradise is located between Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt, very close to the Lagunita sector, on its way to the Tepual Airport.
Lahuen Ñadi hosts elevated platforms that go over the ancient Alerces Woods and the Ñadis soil. Both are typical of the Selva Valdivia. It’s also home of other unique species of animals and vegetation.
Some of the native flora we can find here include Coihues, Canelos (Winter’s bark), Ulmos and Mañios. And, we’ll encounter the uniquely shaped Arrayanes, a tree only found in the Patagonia. Furthermore, it’s one of the few places in the Chilean Central Valley that preserves ancient Fitzroya trees, some over 1800 years old.
There are two main trails here. One is Los Chucaos, a circuit path of about 600 meters with great infrastructure. As it even has a wheelchair access, and includes public restrooms at the entrance. The other one is Los Carpinteros, a 2 kilometers circuit trail. This path welcomes everyone, as its ranked with a low difficulty level.
Then we’ll encounter many curious animals here. We’ll find birds such as chucaos, huet-huets, fire-eyed diucons, thorn-tailed rayaditos, slender-billed parakeets, song thrushes, buff-necked ibis, southern lapwings, chimango caracaras and southern crested caracaras. But, we can also spot animals like the Darwin toad, the little monkey of the bush, the hare and the skunk.
If you want to join this marvellous adventure, just request to book this trip. Don’t let this unique opportunity escape, gather your friends and family and live this unforgettable adventure.
I also guide this 6-day trek from Argentina to Cochamo, Chile via Paso El León, if you’re looking for a longer hike.
