Description

Welcome to the Cairgorms National Park, a historic and spectacular mountain landscape in the highlands of Scotland. Come and experience two days in the famous Scottish wilderness!

A classic route of the Scottish Highlands, Lairig Ghru is adored by all who travel its enchanting paths.

This is an ancient route used for centuries and perhaps as far back as the Romans. Crossing from Deeside to Speyside, this journey leads you through the heart of the Cairgorms!

This is my home and I have spent many years exploring its terrain and discovering all its secrets. It will be my pleasure to share this with you and explain the history and local flora and fauna.

You will feel a real sense of achievement on completion of this trip and camping under the stars will contribute to an unforgettable Scottish experience.

We will meet at 08:30 near Avienmore and discuss our itinerary, check the weather and have a coffee!

Then after a 2-hour drive through the Cairngorms we will begin our first day on the trail at Linn of Dee near Braemar in Deeside.

Where we camp that night will depend on the fitness of the group, the weather and our preferences!

Along the way you will be breathing in the pristine air, admiring the mountains, following the river and exploring the ancient Caldonian forest!

Our second day will see us break our fast and head onto the pass nice and early. We will traverse the highest point of the trek (845m) before desending into ancient Caladonian pines and where we began.

Although we’ll just be walking on a pass and not summiting a mountain, we’ll still reach altitudes of 845m and this is not to be underestimated.

We will cover about 20 miles/32km, with about 810m of ascent. Therefore, you should be comfortable with this level of hike, whilst carrying a backpack.

If you want to discover the stunning highland beauty of the Scottish Cairngorms and camp under the stars, then sign up now because I can’t wait to share my magical home with you!
