Due to its spectacular natural surroundings like volcanoes, lakes and waterfalls, Pucón is a major centre of adventure in Chile. Located in the province of Cautín, in the Araucanía Region, this charming town will be the perfect setting to take your climbing skills to the next level!
This program is ideal for those who already know the basics of rock climbing and want to tackle challenging multi-pitch routes. According to your wishes we may leave for 1 to 3 days.
During this trad climbing course in Pucón, we will focus on trad climbing techniques, as well as on how to use the equipment properly to climb multi-pitch routes.
These are some of the main points we’ll cover :
Different types of rock and how to adapt the technique according to them.
Rock climbing equipment.
Fall factor.
Learn how to place protection properly.
Techniques for crack climbing (Dulfer and jamming).
Double rope climbing.
Progression in multi-pitch climbing routes.
Rappel. Use of safety back-up systems.
Communication: climbing calls.
Techniques for climbing chimneys.
Topos: how to read, understand and make them.
Keep in mind that all participants must be able to climb a 5.9 route top rope and have a great physical condition. This program is only suitable for those who have completed a first level rock climbing course or are able to prove their knowledge up or beyond that level.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much.
