Come one a hiking adventure that combines stunning natural beauty with local history and culture!
Located just outside of Gatlinburg is an original settlers’ mountain town. As we spend three hours hiking through the area, we will get the chance to see original structures, including farming buildings and cemeteries.
One of our knowledgable local guides will spend the duration of the tour telling you about how the settlers came to choose this spot as well as a bit about how they lived and interacted with the local Native Americans.
The going isn’t always easy, as we will have to hike over some fairly rocky terrain to get there, but the experience is well-worth it.
Along with the settlement, we may be able to head out to a cave that was used to make moonshine once upon a time and make it to Courthouse Rock, the only freestanding rock structure in all of the Great Smoky Mountains.
So what are you waiting for? Book now for a fun and informative half-day hike to “the Mountaineers Way” from Gatlinburg, Tennessee!
If you like the look of this trip, but are looking for something a bit more challenging, then we think you will also enjoy our 3-day backpacking trip along the Appalachian Trail from Gatlinburg!
