Description

Take in the splendor of the Tablelands on a day hiking the Winter House Brook Canyon Route and Gros Morne National Park! Experience the excitement of Canada’s enthralling nature on the remote island of Newfoundland!

The Gros Morne National Park, located in the easternmost Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, contains the Tablelands. This area of exposed mantle is rife with orange-colored rocks across its terrain, with trails that lead up to fantastic views of the Trout River Gulch and the Bonne Bay.

The Winter House Brook Canyon is a section of the Tablelands that appears as if it were the surface of Mars. The barren landscape was previously gutted by a glacier that ran through the canyon, leaving the present glacial cirque in its wake. It is an authentic immersion in this fascinating landscape that will take you to one of the most impressive views of the entire region.

Your trip takes you to the heart of this captivating landscape. From the Tablelands Trail, you will head to the viewing platform and continue down the Winter House Brook into the canyon. The stream will accompany you to the back of the canyon. Two kilometers down the trail and you will reach a fork in the brook, and the canyon steepens.

The route gives you charming stroll through the region, and over the course of four to six hours you will cover nearly 10 kilometers. Once you reach the top, you can look out across the Tablelands, Bonne Bay, and the rest of the Gros Morne National Park.

We will return along the same path that we came, following the brook and getting the most from the canyon that we possibly can. You might be able to see snow through the early summer, and each part of the canyon has its own special features.

This is a great hike for anyone interested in the Canadian frontier. Because the hike lasts over four hours, you should be in reasonably good shape. No experience is necessary, just an excitement for a great day in a compelling region.

This area is our home, and it would be our pleasure to show you its best spots. We can ensure a safe and satisfying program that you will always remember.

Book this day hike through the Winter House Brook Canyon Route and scale the Tablelands in the Gros Morne National Park!

We can take a day hike to the Big Lookout in Gros Morne National Park! Or we can shorten our day to the Lower Bowl Route at the Tablelands!
