Description

Come explore one of the most beautiful parts of Panama. Discover the Cerro Chame, a majestic hill nestled in the Chame district, near Panama City.

There are different ways to approach this dazzling hill. But, one of the easiest ones begins at the gate where people park cars, and right where the trail starts. Also we can reach this area from different parts, as it is close to Panama City. Or, we can approach from the Valle de Anton.

Since we will be reaching the summit of Cerro Chame at sunrise, to enjoy the most breathtaking views of the region, we’ll have to depart really early. So, we’ll be arriving at the start of the trailhead at about 4 in the morning.

Thereupon, we’ll encounter an intriguing path, with a mixture of dirt, rocks and mud. Mesmerizing and tall trees cover the start of this trail. But as we keep hiking through it we’ll get to admire how it opens up. Then, we will get to enjoy hypnotizing views of Chame. Furthermore, the glowing lights of the city below us will accompany our trek.

Also, please note that just like many other hikes in Panama, it will be a humid ascent with steep areas. So be prepared for the heat, even early in the morning. We shall be arriving at the summit at about 5:00 am, just in time for the most stunning sunrise. After enjoying this mesmerizing spectacle, we’ll begin our descent.

We will be climbing around 700 meters, taking into consideration the whole hike. However, the maximum altitude we will reach, will be of approximately 500 meters.
