While it may not be one of the first peaks you think when it comes to great Himalayan peaks, Stok Kangri is nonetheless truly spectacular. It is also one of the world’s only non-technical climbs of a mountain higher than 6000 meters. As a result, reaching its summit is open to non-professional climbers. Furthermore, the views you will get from the summit of this great mountain are breathtaking.
Beginning in the lovely, and incredibly high altitude city of Leh, our journey will begin. After you’ve enjoyed a few days in Leh, while also getting acclimatized, we will start our journey to the top of Stok Kangri. During our adventure, you will get to trek through and appreciate the region’s amazing bird life, thrilling passes, gorges and a number of monasteries.
There are a number of amazing viewpoints during this trek. And from those points, you will get to see Kashmir, as well as several 8000 meter plus peaks all the way in Pakistan! And throughout this trip, we will be camping in different campsites, many of which are in the midst of the region’s wilderness. Thus giving you a truly immersive trip.
A climb this high, on a mountain this enormous, should not be open to non-professional climbers. Yet, in the case of Stok Kangri, that is exactly what you have the chance to do. So if you would like to join me on this adventure, just send us a request.
we can also lead you on a 18 to 21 day trek around the Annapurna massif in Nepal as well.
After arriving at the airport, you will be picked up and transferred to the Kang Lha Chen hotel at Leh, where you can relax and get some much needed rest.
Today you will get to explore the city of Leh and enjoy some if its highlights including an 11th century monastery at Alchi and the Khardung La pass before returning to your hotel for the night.
For approximately 3 hours we will trek to Shang Phu, where we will camp for the night. During the trek, we will visit the Thiksey monastery. You will also get to see a lot of beautiful birdlife. We will also cross several rivers before reaching the gorge at Sumdo.
After waking up very early, we will cross the Shang La pass. We will then descend to the Tokpo river for lunch. After that, we will climb up to Gangpoche, where we will camp for the night.
Today we will climb through the Matho La pass. From the pass you will get to see Kashmir, Stok Kangri and many enormous peaks in Pakistan. We will continue on until we reach Mankarmo, where we will camp for the night. We will be hiking for approximately 5 to 6 hours.
After trekking for 2 hours, we will reach Yarles, which is the base camp of Stok Kangri. After setting up camp, you will get to relax in the area, while enjoying the views.
Today, we will take an acclimatization hike to familiarize ourselves with the climb to come before returning to the camp for the night.
We will wake up before dawn and make our way to the summit of Stok Kangri. From the summit, you will get to enjoy some magnificent views of peaks like K2. After you’ve enjoying all you can, we will then descend back to base camp, where we will spend the night.

Sandeep and his wife, Jasmine, are lovely guides! We did a 1 day intro to rock climbing excursion with them and we had a great time! They communicated well and provided us with a fun and safe day of climbing. They chose routes based on our experience and taught us a lot. I highly recommend hiring Miyar Adventures. We have already shared their info with friends and family.
Five days of awesome is all I can say. Glen our instructor and guide was extremely knowledgeable. I had previous glacier mountaineering experience and his techniques were so much more efficient than what I had been taught. To top it off we had a great summit day.
Whole group summited! Huge thanks to the guides for helping us all get there! It's certainly not an easy climb, but the entire experience was fantastic. Especially loved the snow skills training on the second day. Lots of fun was had practicing the self arrest & team arrest. The team arrest training was a huge confidence builder to see that I wasn’t going to take the entire team down if I fell The lead guide (Glen) was fabulous. You can tell he really enjoys sharing his passion for the outdoors with the guests on his trip. Folks in the store are super helpful as well. Sandeep (owner) is great, and have talked with him in the store & via email several times to get advice. Great pre-trip guidance (including a meeting the night before the climb to make sure you have all the gear you need & nothing you don’t), and you can tell how much Sandeep cares about making sure every guest has a great experience. Lots of reasonably priced gear rental options available here as well if you aren’t sure if mountaineering is for you. Considering a Kili trip while I’m still in good hiking shape, and they’ll be the first place I look at if I decide to book.
I took the Mountaineering skills course (5 days) in Baker. I learned so much about Glacier travel, rope management, crevasse rescue, and much more! Glen, our guide was awesome and highly knowledgeable. We also got to summit Mt. Baker during the course which was the most magical part! I HIGHLY recommend them!
Myself and my daughter climbed Mt. Baker with Miyar Adventures via Easton Glacier route, Simon was our guide. The whole experience was epic in many ways. Simon's knowledge is excellent, I would trust him 100% in any situations that may come up on the mountain. We learned a lot and it was fun. The overall organization from Miyar was great (including informational emails from Jake and communication with Sandeep). Great company that I would choose again in a heartbeat.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
