Spain is famous for its exquisite gastronomy, intriguing history and culture. But during winter, it gets blessed with fresh and pristine snow. Thus, creating a world of fantastic winter sceneries. And one of the best ways to explore these marvellous lands is snowshoeing across them.
Furthermore, I have chosen one of Spain’s most enchanting mountain refuges for accommodation: Estanys de la Pera. Standing at 2,357 meters, this charming refuge, lies on the southern slope of the Perafita port in the province of Lleida. It is right next to the ponds of Pera, which we can explore during our adventure.
On the first day of our journey, we’ll depart from the Aransa ski resort. Then, we’ll explore the circus of Bassot. Thereon, we’ll head towards the shelter of the Estanys. Upon arrival, we’ll enjoy hypnotizing views of the area, and of course get a good night sleep.
The next day, we’ll climb the Pic dels Estanyons, to enjoy breathtaking vistas of the Madriu valley. This dazzling valley was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO, so it’s something you cannot miss. Finally, to end our journey, we’ll descend back to the Aransa resort.
Please note, this trip requires a good fitness level. Although it does not require any previous experience or a particular technique. I’ll show you how to use the snowshoes correctly. And the maximum altitude we’ll reach will be 600 meters on a slope.
If you wish to take part of this adventure, don’t hesitate and send me a request. It will be my pleasure to guide you across this winter wonderland in Spain.
You can also check this ski touring in Andorra, 5 days in the Pyrenees.
