Description

Discover the Peñalara Glacial Cirque at Sierra de Guadarrama on this snowshoeing day. Explore this winter paradise in Spain.

Sierra de Guadarrama is a dazzling nature wonder in Spain. This place has an incomparable beauty all year round. But it is during winter, when a fresh layer of snow has covered its hills and mountains, that it turns into a true paradise. And there is no better way to explore it than with snowshoes!

So come with me on this journey to the heart of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park to reach its Glacial Cirque. Located only 1 hour outside of Madrid, it is hard to believe a place this mesmerizing exists.

First we’ll meet at Puerto de Cotos. Then, we’ll put on the snowshoes and poles. And after a short security briefing we will be ready to tackle the snow.

Depending on the weather conditions, we’ll take a charming path to the Peñalara lagoon, where we’ll enjoy hypnotizing views of the Lozoya Valley. All throughout the journey, we’ll make several stops to learn more about the geomorphology of the place, as well as the local ecosystem. Finally for our return, we’ll have a blast using the snowshoes downhill towards Valsain.

So if you are up for this fantastic snowshoeing adventure in the Peñalara Glacial Cirque, don’t hesitate and send me a request. I promise it will be a trip you won’t be able to forget. Plus, you can book this as a private trip or join one of our groups.

What people are saying about Pedro

Raquel

Pedro was so knowledgeable about the area, and graciously answered all our questions, even those unrelated to the hike. He was very kind in picking us up from Madrid for a small fee. He also took a bunch of photos of my husband and I during the trek, which I really appreciated since those are our only pictures together from our trip to Spain. I'd definitely recommend Pedro to anyone traveling to Madrid and interested in experiencing nature outside the city.
