I invite you to discover a magical spot in the Piedmont, in Italy: the Maira Valley! Join me and let's spend a wonderful ski touring week there!
This beautiful destination is located in the North West of Italy, in the province of Cuneo, westwards to the French border. The Maira Valley offers lots of ski touring possibilities, from easy to extreme, at altitudes that range from 1200 to 3000 metres high.
I will take you to discover this hidden treasure! Although the Maira Valley offers excellent poder snow, it's still a relatively wild spot. So, if you are looking for a trip far from the crowds, this is a perfect program for you!
Due to the great migration in the post-war years, many of the picturesque mountain villages are almost completely abandoned. So solitude can be experienced not only on the countless peaks but also in the valley.
Most important, no matter where we are located in the valley, in a few minutes drive we will be able to reach most ski touring starting points. In addition, most of the accommodation facilities offer a great atmosphere. Besides, we will enjoy delicious cuisine and fine wines. The fantastic Italian meals will make our experience even more perfect!
This Monday to Saturday tour is the perfect opportunity to enjoy 6 amazing days on the snow. And on Sunday, after breakfast, we will start our journey back home.
Please note that you need to be fit enough as to hike up on the snow for 3 to 5 hours. Most important, you need previous ski touring experience!
So contact me if you want to join me in this 6-day ski touring program! I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the tour. We will spend an amazing time in the Maira Valley.
Also, if you want to venture yourself into ice climbing, you should check my 3-day introductory course in Felbertauern, Austria.

Mountain Guide
I am a IFMGA certified mountain guide and I'm passionated about nature. I was born in 1977 and before entering in the mountain life, I worked as a teacher in Borg Lienz.
I started training as a canyoning guide 15 years ago. Since 2009, I have also trained with canyoning leaders in Carinthia. Additionally, I have been on the road as a mountain and ski instructor. During the summers, I have guided a lot in Switzerland, where I took my guests to many mountains over 4000 meters high. My “motto” in the mountains and in life has always been the same: “Never stop exploring”
I work now for Carnicoalpin where our main objective is leading and accompanying you on steep mountains and great ski slopes with a particular focus set on safety.
For more information, please feel free to contact me. We can discuss about your wishes and the different options I offer. I will be really happy to be your guide and share a great moment with you!

Tobias and his colleague Alex were very knowledgeable and professional on all aspects of this amazing experience.

Had an absolutely amazing experience with Tobias, from the training day to summiting the Matterhorn. Couldn’t ask for a better guide 10/10
John
Tobias knows the Matterhorn and the surrounding area extremely well. He will go at a level that is comfortable for you and help you reach whatever mountaineering goal you have. Another reviewer said Tobias knows every step on the Matterhorn - and this is absolutely true. He's one of the BEST around.
Roberto
i guess it was a little our fault for not investigating the fact that due to weather its not always possible to climb the matterhorn, but we where notice 1 week before that the weather was not good, so it was very complicated to organize something interesting as second option.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
