Description

Join me in this ski touring trip in the Sonnspitze mountain (2062 m), in the land of Tyrol, Austria. This mountain is in the Kitzbühel Alps.

It's a very popular hiking tour in the Auracher Graben. It's also great for ski touring. Indeed, it offers a steep departure from the summit, all in safe conditions.

One great thing about this itinerary is that it's apt for ski touring beginners as well as for experts. The altitude change during the program is 1044 m.

We follow the Wildalmgraben in the valley on the toboggan run to the sign "Gebra" and climb along the track on the left over relatively steep alpine terrain. We first go over the Niederwildalm up to the Hochwildalm hut, (1557 m). To the right, slightly below the hut along the signpost, a few meters of altitude loss before we cross the steep NW slope below Schotting. In a large arc through the very clear forest into the open ground below the summit. The summit ascends from the south over the crest to the highest point.

Some nearby resorts are Kitzbühel, Fieberbrunn and Saalbach-Hinterglemm. If you are in one of them during your ski trip, this 1-day option is great!

Did you find this proposal interesting? Then please contact me so we can leave together during the winter! Another great program that you can check out is Guided off piste skiing in Sankt Anton.

Mathias was excellent. He brought us to good snow even in a low snow week. He was kind, friendly and very knowledgeable. Next time we bring skins!

My guide ended up being a local snowboard guide named Peter. It was excellent. Lovely guy, we got to ride some powder as well as practice searching with the avalanche rescue equipment. All round good day. Would highly recommend
