Narvik is the northernmost city in the county of Nordland, in northern Norway. It is placed at the bottom of the Ofotfjorden and it is surrounded by islands, fjords, deep valleys, lakes, rivers and big waterfalls, glaciers and mountain plateaus. But, first and foremost, in Narvik we find amazing mountains with a seemingly endless terrain, perfect for an unforgettable ski touring adventure.
I propose you to join me on a single or a multi-day ski touring trip in the beautiful mountains of Narvik.
Within one hour drive from Narvik, we are able to enjoy wonderful runs along the coast on mountains that rise straight up from the shoreline. Also, I will take you ski touring on some of the many mountains scattered around on big mountain plateaus or we will cross through large valleys and over amazing glaciers. Ski touring in Narvik offers endless potential lines for incredible skiing.
The same region also harbours two of the best ski resorts in Scandinavia. One of these resorts, lays in the middle of the city of Narvik. From here, we can access off-piste terrain that offers up to 1200 meters of vertical drop straight down to the sea.
The highest mountain in Narvik is almost 1900 meters high, whereas a typical mountain in Narvik is somewhere between 1000 to 1400 meters high.
In Narvik, we have the possibility of skiing from steep couloirs and large open slopes to easy angled glaciers and fun lines in the trees, and so much more!
We can access the mountains by car, boat or even by train. We have a unique access to both coastal range mountains and the inland mountains up on the plateaus. This means that we have the opportunity to ski in the ever changing weather of the Arctic.
You do not have to be an extreme skier or a super fit athlete to explore the mountains in Narvik. However you shoud be in good shape as for full ski touring days with between 1000 to 2000 meteres of climbing and skiing. In order to join this tour you should have previous ski touring experience, from an intermediate to an advanced level. Also, be aware that on most tours we will venture into potential avalanche prone terrain.
You should bear in mind as well that these mountains are placed high up north in the Arctic, so the weather might change quickly. But this shouldn’t be a problem, as there are plenty of days with good weather and perfect snow in Narvik!
Besides, the closer we get to the spring, the days get longer. So, in late season, it’s even possible to ski under the midnight sun while we enjoy the breathtaking views over the surrounding mountains, islands and fjords.
The closest airport to Narvik is Evenes, about one hour drive away from the city of Narvik (soon to be about 40-45 minutes trip with a new bridge that is soon to be completed). Also, there are many choices for accommodations, from large hotels in the city to smaller lodges both up in the mountains or close to the sea.
On days off or in the evenings there are plenty of options: you can either go out scouting for the northern lights, try ice climbing, dogsledding or even visit the wolves in the Polar Zoo.
So are you in for such an amazing ski touring trip in Norway? Send me a request, book your trip, and let’s start planning this incredible adventure in the beautiful and wild mountains of Narvik!

Mountain Guide
I was born and raised in the town of Narvik in northern Norway. As the case has been with generations of norwegians, my parents took me with them on trips into nature and up on the mountains even before I was able to walk by myself. When I was able to stand up, my father bought me my first pair of slalom skis and we went skiing in the slopes on the local resorts. From there, the love of nature and the mountains has continuously grown and eventually evolved into a wish to bring others and let them experience and explore together with me.
Today nature and the mountains are my "office", where I work all year round with guiding, as an instructor and tutor on different courses and as an observer for the avalanche forecasting service. Over the years I have worked and guided all over Norway, but it is the north that is home and here I spent most of my time. So come with me into nature and up on the mountains and explore the wild nature of northern Norway. Skitours in Narvik and Lyngen or climbs to Norway's national mountain of Stetind are just some of the adventures I can offer you, but the mountains up here in the north are almost limitless in abundance and possibilities.

I completely missed this trip by one month due to my fault but exacerbated by your booking system. I must have filled in the booking form about 10 times before the dates were 'correct' and I was not being charged for more than one day. Every time I tried to make changes, the form refreshed and all the details had to be filled in again. These sorts of trips/events are not like booking train tickets. Most include a window of opportunity that is heavily influenced by weather events. Your communication flow requires a booking to be made and paid before there is any connection with the guide or discussion about suitable days etc. I realise that your company is a booking agency that is concerned about introducing two parties but missing out on the management fee however I feel the system requires a more nuanced approach.
