Description

Siberia is a land of breathtaking landscapes, covering almost 30% of Russia. Why don’t you join me on this 9-day trip to Mamay Valley and enjoy ski touring in this remote destination?

Mamay Valley is a small beautiful valley tucked in the KhamarDaban mountain range, very close to one of Siberia’s biggest natural attractions: Lake Baikal. Famous for being the largest and deepest lake in the world, Lake Baikal receives tourists throughout the year. During winter, the area is an amazing ski touring destination, although it’s only visited by small groups. There’s only one mountain hut in the area, which can host between 8 to 10 people.

I propose to go there for a 9-day ski touring trip, and stay in the mountain hut. We’ll meet in the city of Irkutsk and return there too. You can find a detailed itinerary below. Keep in mind that the best months for skiing in Mamay Valley are November and December, so I suggest you book for these months. During this period, days aren’t so cold and there’s already plenty of powder snow. You can join me on one of the listed open groups, or book a private tour, during these months and after too. We can discuss and arrange the details together.

Also, although I can adapt this trip to different skill levels, it’s important that you have previous off-piste skiing experience and know how to manage deep snow. You should also be in very good physical shape and up for an exciting adventure!

If you have 2 minutes, I strongly recommend you to read this article about a group of Swiss skiers who came to ski there with me in November / December 2017.

So, are you ready for the ski adventure of a lifetime? Then contact me now and let’s start planning your trip together. I will be happy to guide you!

I work together with a group of guides, so if I’m not available, one of my colleagues will guide you!

If you want to explore other Russian locations, take a look at my other programs, like this ski touring trip around the Kamchatka Peninsula.
