Ski touring initiation in the Pyrenees

Join me for a fantastic day in the Pyrenees to try something new in the snowy mountains. I propose a 1-day ski touring initiation, perfect to get into this fantastic world.

Are you tired of waiting in line to take the chairlift? Are you looking for a ski practice that connects you better to the mountain? Are you up for some physical effort? Then you are ready for ski touring!

The program starts some kilometers before the Mongie resort, in Artigues (1300m). We will ascent to the summit of Pene Lounque (2275m). Indeed, almost 1000 meters of altitude change, not bad for an initiation!

To fully enjoy the day, we will meet early in the morning: at 7AM in Artigues (but it can vary depending on the time of year as well as the weather). In this way, we will also avoid the crowds ascending to Mongie.

We might be able to carry the skis for a short section before putting on the seal skins (and knives if necessary). Then we will ascend for about 4 hours. The slope to reach the summit is quite constant.

The views from the summit over the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, the Montaigu, the Lheris and the Tarbes plain are exceptional!

After a short pause at the summit to enjoy the panorama and get some rest, a fantastic descent follows. Then we will have a picnic at the Tramazaygues cabins (1400m).

To participate, you need to be a good skier in pistes. Children from 13 years old can join.
