8 Days

Jul - Oct

Description

When it comes to enjoying Patagonia, the options are virtually endless. There is just so much to do and so much to see. This 8-day adventure will allow you to start in the beautiful city of Bariloche, move on for some days in the gorgeous areas of Baguales Mountain lodge, and conclude in the volcanoes of Chile, before returning to Bariloche.

Baguales is a an amazing place. The mountain reserve is unforgettable, and is filled with the kind of breathtaking natural scenery that has come to define Patagonia. You will also get to enjoy some great slopes and sleep in some comfortable refuges.

Once we reach Chile, the terrain, like the adventure, will shift to pictures of the volcanoes. The list of volcanoes on this portion of the trip include Casa Blanca  (2,240m) and Osorno (2,652m). You will get to ascend and enjoy the trill of ski or split-boarding down all of these great peaks. Along with the peaks, you will also get to enjoy some hot springs, visit Villa Angostura and Puerto Varas city, and drive across the Andes in between Argentina and Chile.

Participants on this trip should be able to ski and split-board at an advanced level and be in good physical condition. To enjoy this adventure, all you have to do is send me a request. I look forward to guiding you. And if you only want to experience one of the portions of this trip, just let me know. I will be happy to work out a specific itinerary for you.

I also lead a Ski tour of the Volcanoes in Patagonia as well, if you want to see more of that splendid area.

Mountain Guide

I was born in a very remote area of northern Argentina which gave me a special appreciation for the outdoors. When I was 16 my family moved south, closer to the mountains, and I started to climb in the Andes. I've been mountaineering – trekking and climbing – ever since.
I've traveled and climbed throughout Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, the USA, Canada and Europe. I spent two summer seasons working in Aosta, Italy where I completed numerous ascents and climbing on the area.
At some point in my younger years, my career path steered me to the telecommunications industry, scaling towers and fixing cellular systems. But the mountains were never far away and I eventually returned to my roots and become a mountain guide since 2001.
In the winter I focus on being a ski guide around the mountain range and also the volcanoes, this is how I spend part of my time on the winter seasons as well as teaching backcountry ski and avalanche awareness courses.

What people are saying about Lucas

Zoe

Lucas was an incredible guide! Was always on time to pick us up and even helped us grab snacks and other items in town on our way back to the hotel. But more importantly he was a great guide, who always knew exactly where to go to get the soft snow as the sun hit different parts of the mountain. He provided helpful tips for touring and made sure we skied nearly all of Catedral. I highly recommend Lucas whether you want amazing resort or backcountry skiing.

Lucas took care of every detail and made it seamless and easy. Calm, confident, knowledgeable and connected. Everyone seemed to know and respect Lucas. Without any hesitation whatsoever, I HIGHLY recommend him.

Excelent trek to Laguna Ilon

My husband and I have been on many incredible hikes all over Argentina with Lucas as our Guide. He has taken us to the most phenomenal places and pushed us (willingly) to our limits whilst at the same time always feeling very safe knowing that he is such an expert and highly qualified mountaineer. We have crossed glaciers wearing crampons as the sun rises, we have climbed volcanoes that we thought would never be physically possible, and Lucas has been fun and entertaining along the way. He jas great judgement - the tripas are planned and amended along the way in order that you can totally disconnect from everyday life. Every trip also contains interaction with local people and so we have learnt a lot about Argentinean culture and Argentinean people. Georgina and Rob Smart - England
