The South of Chile is world famous for its volcanoes and beautiful, nature. Besides, the colourful and warm South American culture make any trip here more enjoyable. Together, these factors combine rendering this area a perfect place for an adventurous and fun ski touring trip.
The focus of this trip revolves around the Volcanoes of the region Las Araucarias. Here, the millennial Araucarias, beautiful trees, are a major part of the scenery.
The journey, which can be considered a road trip, starts at Temuco airport. From there we drive to the Nevados de Chillan resort. During the first days, we take advantage of the ski lifts to do some off-piste skiing and start nice and easy.
Then we head South, and take full advantage of the great variety of descents. We stay in a lodge and we can enjoy the hot springs in the area.
Finally, we explore the great Llaima, our last goal. It's an active volcano, impressive with its smoking crater and its glaciers. Definitely an experience you won't forget!
A big advantage of the private transportation is that we can modify the itinerary if we need to, due to weather conditions.
Next fixed departure: September 24th to October 4th.
You can also combine this trip with the Ski touring in Chile – Volcano experience, to ski the southern part of the volcanoes area.

We meet at the Temuco airport in the early afternoon. A long drive, but it’s worth it since we can have the first dinner at las Trancas next to Nevados de Chillan, enjoying the views over the mountains and knowing that tomorrow we can make the first turns with our skis.
On the skis today! We use the facilities of the skiing area to ski off-piste making perhaps a short touring in the area to warm up. We stay the night in our lodging in Las Trancas.
Tour to the Nevados de Chillan. From the skiing area we skin up the volcano and enjoy skiing down, completing our first tour of the trip. We stay the night in Las Trancas.
Time to change place as we drive to Antuco, our next destination.
We drive up to Laguna Laja where the scenery is very similar to Altiplano. From there we make the ski tour to Antuco volcano enjoying the fantastic views to the blue lake and surrounding open landscapes. After 1400m of descent fun we return to our lodging.
Our road trip goes further south as we drive to the Suizandina lodge, our base for the next days.
Another great ski day. We drive to the Corralco skiing area and ski tour on the Lonquimay volcano. The rest of the day we ski in Corralco (freeride). Then we go back to Suizandina.
Sierra Nevada – another beautiful tour in the Curacautin region. We ski south next to Lonquimay. The view from the top gives us an idea of the next goal: Llaima. After the tour we drive through beautiful Patagonic landscapes to our next lodging, La Baita, at the foot of the majestetic Llaima.
Day in the green. We enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Conquillo National Park and make a walking tour in the incredible forest of the area. Then we go back to La Baita lodge.
Tour to the Llaima volcano. It is our biggest ascent with 1700m, but the reward is also great: magnificent views from the top of the highest peak. There is an active crater and huge volcano side to descend. After ski touring we go back to La Baita Lodge.
