Description

Our base for this program is Kranjska Gora, in Slovenia.

Kranjska Gora started in the 14th century as a herdsmen settlement. Over time, it has developed to become a cosmopolitan Alpine village.

The first crucial event for this development was when the road across the Vršič pass was built. This resulted in Kranjska Gora being strategically important. The second main event was when the railway was built, and then the Planica ski jump.

Subsequently it turned into a tourist resort. Construction of cable cars on the Vitranc slopes followed. Then came climbing walls and summer sledding. Moreover, the town grew with the construction of beautiful apartments and hotels, different museums… The town is lively and things are constantly happening here.

The discovery of the Upper Sava Valley starts here, and it never ends!

Mountain Guide

I am a IFMGA certified mountain guide, ski instructor, and sports teacher.

I believe guides do their best job when they guide in the mountains they are most familiar with. That is one of the biggest reasons why I specialize in guiding in Slovenia. I climb Triglav more than 25 times per year, which means I have climbed the most famous peak in my country around 400 times.

If you want to climb or ski in the Slovenian mountains, I am the right choice. I guide via ferrata, rock climbing, snow climbing, ice climbing, hikes, freeride skiing, and ski touring. Most of my summer work involves climbing Triglav, and most of my winter work involves Triglav and ski touring around it.

Slovenia offers good options for all of these activities, so you are welcome to take a look at my trips and find something for yourself. If you don't find anything, let me know, and I will see if I can help you!

I speak English. Ich spreche auch ein bisschen Deutsch. Parlo anche un po' di Italiano e hablo también un poco de Español.

If I am not available to guide you, one of the super experienced guides in my team will be your guide.

What people are saying about this trip

Valiant

I had a great tour with Mitja, who is a superb guide. He was thoughtful about the location of the tour based on weather conditions, ability, etc. and he adapted well to some unforeseen challenges including an icy ascent. Despite less than ideal snow, we had a fun and adventurous trip.

Owen

We had a great day of skiing together with our guide Mitja. He took really good care of everyone (different skill levels), took us to the most beautiful ski resort and was there to teach us some extra skiing techniques. We had great fun, and would definitely recommend booking a ski tour with these guys, on or off piste!

Julia

I had a great time in Kranjska Gora/SLO, thank you. As Mitja was busy (which I did not quite understand as we have made arrangements well in advance) we did a ski trip with Peter Joromel. Peter was great – very professional, accomodating and fun. Only the communication prior to our trip could have been a bit better.
