Mt Elbrus is the highest mountain in Russia and Europe and one of the highest mountains in the world. It’s a dream just to climb this peak, but did you ever think about doing it on skis? I’d like to offer you an incredible opportunity to climb Elbrus with skis and experience a giant descent.
Mt Elbrus (5642 m) is part of the Caucacus mountain range that divides Europe and Asia. As one of the “7 summits,” it is a dream destination for climbers. On this 9-day tour, we ski and climb other stunning peaks in the area to acclimatize, and then we take on our goal.
You must have ski touring experience and a strong physical condition to handle the 8-9 hour peak climb. There’s also the option to do some of the ascent assisted by a Snowcat at an extra cost. In order to get ready for the trek, we advise you complete other acclimatization tours and spend the night in other high alpine huts before you attempt Mt Elbrus.
The Elbrus ski tour is a great mountain adventure that includes several acclimatization summit ascents and then an ascent of Europe’s highest peak. Throughout the trip, we’ll stay in nice heated hotels and huts up in the mountains. Finally, we’ll experience an incredible descent on skis that you’ll talk about for years to come.
So if you think this trip sounds amazing, contact me to book now! I would love to have this adventure with you.
Upon your arrival in Moscow we’ll travel to Mineralny Vody, a spa town in the northern Caucacus. We’ll take a 4 hour bus trip through the Baksantal to Terskol and arrive at the foot of Mt Elbrus (2200 m). We’ll spend the night at Hotel Chiran-Azau, near the valley station of the Elbrus cable car.
We’ll take the chair lift to 2700 m then ascend the Chechen summit (about 3400 m). There we’ll enjoy a beautiful mountain view of the Elbrus and entire Central Caucacus. Overnight at hotel.
We’ll tour the summit of Tiger of Rocks (3450 m) to further our acclimatization.
Now better adapted to the altitude, the cable car will take us to the “Mir” mountain station and then by chairlift to Botchkis heated apartments (3750). We’ll also make an ascent to Prijut Hut (4100 m). Night at Botchkis in your own sleeping bag.
We’ll make an ascent of Pastuchov Rock (4700 m) on our final day of acclimatization. Overnight in the Botchkis.
We’ll ascend to the Elbrus saddle (5300 m) and further to the higher West Summit. Ascent time 8-9 hours, descent to Botchkis and overnight.
Extra day allowed for bad weather, return to hotel in Azau.
At noon 25 km transfer to Mineralny Vody and fly to final return destination via Moscow.
