Description

In 2014, we were lucky enough to discover the snow-capped mountains of Armenia –and the daily life of its people. I invite you to join me on a week-long ski tour around this unexplored territory.

We will ski down Armenia's northern mountains and then descend into the ones that border Sevan Lake. We will make a crossing from village to village, sleeping in some of them.

During the day, we will explore peaks and valleys and find small villages in between. Heated houses with Persian carpets will welcome us in the evenings. A cook will accompany us constantly. The Armenian cuisine is plentiful and varied. In the mountains, we will enjoy a copious pic nic prepared by our cook.

We will reach several of summits: Mt. Ara (2,575 meters), Mt. Tezhler (3,101 meters), Mt. Hatis (2,529 meters), Mt. Ishkhanasar (3,555 meters) and even an unnamed summit of 2,950 meters.

This trip does not require a high technical level as the terrain is suitable for "classic" ski touring. However, a good skiing level in all kinds of snow and a good physical condition are necessary to enjoy the tour.

On our way, we will visit famous monasteries such as Saghmosavank, the ancient temple complex of Garni, built during the 1st century AD, Geghard (13th century, Unesco World Heritage Site) and Novarank, one of the most beautiful Armenian sites. We will also discover Spitak city.

As we have already organized trips in this region, we are the only ones who can offer you lightweight backpack logistics during the day. In the evening, you will find all your belongings at your accommodation.

So, if you are ready to ski in the unexplored mountains of Armenia and get a glimpse of its life and culture, do not hesitate to contact me.

Ski touring around the world is my passion. Other than Armenia, I can also take you to Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco or any other place where you are wishing to go!
