Description

Learning how to properly tie knots is a crucial part of safe and successful mountaineering. And on this 2 hour knots course, I would like to teach you how to tie the most important basic knots that you will use throughout your mountaineering career. Furthermore, I would like to teach you these skills at the Sihlhölzli sporting complex.

Located in the beautiful Swiss city of Zurich, the Sihlhölzli sporting complex is a large outdoor athletics facility. Perfect for a course of this nature, this is the place where you will learn the knots necessary for future climbs.

The course will begin at 6:30 pm. The knots you will learn to tie during the course include the following.

  • Leader knot

  • Eight knot

  • Mast throw knot

  • Halfmast throw knot

  • Prusik knot

  • Double Spenstrike knot

There is no doubt that you will use all of these knots during future climbing trips. And it is imperative that you know how to tie them quickly and properly. Hence why we will practice these knots extensively until you are confident in your ability to tie each one.

Being able to tie basic knots is a vital component to mountaineering. That is why I believe this course is perfect for anybody who wants to start climbing in mountain ranges like the nearby Swiss Alps. So if you would like to learn how to tie those knots, just send me a request.

I also offer a 2 hour course on how to use an avalanche transceiver that also takes place at the Sihlhölzli sporting complex.

Peter

This was a great trip and Explore Share made finding the right trip super easy. Our guide was personable, extremely knowledgeable, and experienced and willing to teach us the skills we would have needed to climb the Matterhorn. Unfortunatly, the conditions were not right to climb so our guide recemmended another trip which was still a great experience and lots of fun.

Emma

Very user friendly platform with timely responses from Explore Share representatives. The trip itself with Tom from Alps Adventures was awesome and ensure that we had an experience that was 100% what we wanted. Recommend both the platform and the guide. Thanks to all for arranging and delivering so well.

I had am amazing time during the 1-day off-piste training course at Hoch-Ybrig. Urs, our main mountain guide, was very helpful in answering my queries before the course, and Lupe from explore-share was helpful in selecting the course. We had 3 groups under Urs, Mario and Patrick, and I was in the group with Patrick. He gave us a lot of nice tips and individualized video analysis. He made a special effort to convey everything in English, since I don't know German. All the participants were very helpful and friendly too! The course is good value for money as skis are included for the weekend in the course price.
