Description

Looking for an easy hike in a magical natural area? Then follow me on this short program to Vereda dos Balcões and discover the spectacular views of Madeira Island, in Portugal.

First of all, we’ll depart from Ribeiro Frio, a village in the municipality of Santana. Our hike will lead us across the levada da Serra do Faial and, after a short hike, we’ll reach Vereda dos Balcões. From this point, we’ll be able to see breathtaking panoramic views of the Ribeira de Metade valley and its surroundings. If the weather allows it, we’ll also get to see the central mountain range that shows the tallest peaks in the island.

This fantastic natural environment is home to several plants and lovely animals. While hiking across the Ribeiro Frio Natural Park, we’ll observe the local exotic trees and spot some of the rare birds that nest in their tops.

This hike is very short and easy, so it doesn’t require any prior experience or level of fitness. Furthermore, I will be there to show you every step of the way.
