Description

Running through the thickly wooded Ardenne region of Belgium, the Semois Valley is the perfect place for a day-long hiking adventure!

Over the course of our time together, we will hike for 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) through this incredible part of the low countries, making a modest elevation gain of 700 meters (2,300 feet) over the course of the day.

As we go, we are certain to get some incredible views of the Semois river, Scales of Rochehaut and Frahan ridges.

In spite of the Semois Valley being a fairly popular hiking destination during the summer, we will find plenty of deserted trails. Immersed in these enchanting woodlands, we can enjoy the peace and solitude of our lovely surroundings.

As we head to the Frahan ridges and then north toward Rochehaut, we will have the opportunity to make an exciting river crossing as well.

The whole hike will take about 5 hours, so depending on your preferences, we can check out different routes.

Regardless of what you choose to do, you should be physically fit enough to hike uninterrupted with a light pack for the full 5 hours, in order to fully enjoy our day out.

So what are you waiting for? Book now for this fun and scenic day of hiking through the Semois Valley in Belgium!

Hiking Guide

As far as I can remember, I have always been in contact with nature and mountains. Scout camps and holidays in the Swiss Alps gave me that indescribable love for hiking! Besides from hiking, I am also practicing all kind of mountain sports. In the day-to-day life, I am a professional geologist.

Being always outdoor searching for new paths and share it with my friends, it is natural that I wanted to start guiding.

I have been graduated in 2022 with UPMM, Club Alpin Belge and Adeps as a Mountain Leader (Accompagnateur en Moyenne Montagne).

It will be with pleasure to hike with you in some breathtaking spots of Belgium and surroundings (yes we have !).

Une belle parenthèse à vivre ! Des vues étonnantes, que rien ne laisserait soupçonner, avec quelques traversées originales, cette randonnée reste un bon souvenir au côté de Vincent.

Andrea

The route was beautifully chosen. Lots of variation and spectacular views. Vincent picked a gorgeous lunch spot for us, by the river. The river crossing was special. Intermediate level is the correct rating for this hike. Thf less experienced members of our group were slightly challenged but nevertheless enjoyed the day.
