Description

Join me for a ski tour of one or more days and explore Rogers Pass, one of the best backcountry and ski touring destinations in British Columbia. Located in the heart of the beautiful Selkirk Mountains, between Revelsotke and Golden, Rogers Pass offers a wide diversity of ski tours, from amazing alpine descents and tree skiing to high-glaciated ascents.

Rogers Pass is a high mountain pass, located in Canada’s Glacier National Park. It is a world-class backcountry skiing destination, known for its heavy snowfall, of about 10 metres per year. Along with its reliable and deep snow pack it offers a quite easy road access to the backcountry, with incredible locations in the surrounding valleys.

I recommend a minimum of 3 to 4 days in Rogers Pass to explore this area. It is possible to go on different length tours, depending on your wishes and time available.

Please note these tours are suitable for intermediate to advanced skiers, with good fitness level and previous backcountry skiing experience. You also need to be able to climb during some ascents, for about 800m. We can discuss your background and experience and find the tour that suits you best.

Our backcountry touring days here are quite strenuous and long, but also absolutely rewarding!  Every day we ski between 1200 and 1800 meters on average.

These are some classic day tours in Rogers Pass:

  • Illecilleweat Glacier area: Sir Donald Col, Avalanche crest, Youngs peak, Perly rocks, Lookout notch, and North Terninal peak

  • Connaught Creek area: Hermit Meadows, Balu Pass, Grizzly Shoulder, Balu Pass, Little Sifton and 8812 peak.

  • Asulkan Valley area: Asulkan glacier, Asulkan pass, Youngs peak and Sapphire col.

  • Bostock Creek area: Ursus creek, McGill shoulder, Farm pass, Bostock pass, and McGill pass.

  • Loop Brook area:  Bonney glacier, Lily glacier and Bonney trees.

We will meet at a predetermined location for a final gear check the evening before or the same morning of our tour, at 7:30 am. We will also go over avalanche and weather conditions and sign waivers. Then, we drive to our touring destination.

We will enjoy a full day tour in the mountains, and have lunch there. One hour before sunset, we return to relax and celebrate, and get ready for another great tour the next day!

Tempted to join me and explore the amazing backcountry of Rogers Pass? Then just request to book this trip and we will make it happen! You can also have a look at the ski tours I offer in the Nelson and Rossland areas, also in British Columbia.
