Rock or Ice climbing in Cerro Castillo area

Cerro Castillo is a wonderful protected area in Aysen region. Its environment is so varied that you can enjoy rock or ice climbing at the same place.

And that’s why I am here today. I want to give you 2 amazing mountaineering options in Cerro Castillo: rock climbing or ice climbing.

The access to Cerro Castillo National Reserve is very easy because we can get there by the Southern Road, also known with its Spanish name of “Carretera Austral”.

Once we are in Rio Ibañez Valley you cannot believe the variety of climbing spots and hiking routes you will find in the area. Everyone who want a climbing experience must come to this place!

As I said, here below you will see 2 different climbing options in Cerro Castillo area.

OPTION 1: ROCK CLIMBING

The price for this activity is 350€ per person per day. It includes mountain guiding. You can hire the climbing gear such as harness, helmet or ATC. For 2 people or more the price per person is 180€.

If you want an alpine climbing experience, the group size cannot exceed 2 persons. For sport climbing activities I can lead a 4-people team.

OPTION 2: CERRO PEÑON ICE CLIMBING

It will be a 2-day ice climbing trip on the glacier of Cerro Peñon, also located in Cerro Castillo area.

The single price per 2 days is 700€. For 2 participants or more the price is 350€ per person. Included in the price: mountain guide and camping gear. The ice climbing equipment can be hired.

The price does not include meals and insurances. Maximum 4 people per group.
