Description

Head for the border and raft your way through one of the iconic wonders of West Texas on a guided rafting program through Santa Elena Canyon! This guided program along the Rio Grande through Big Bend National Park is full of excitement and will give you an up close and personal look at the classic landscape of the Southwest United States!

Santa Elena Canyon is a deep gorge cut by the Rio Grande along the southern border of the United States. Plunging 1,500 feet through the limestone, it boasts some immense boulders and a variety of rapids that make it one of the most captivating river rafting areas in the region. You can spot an array of wildlife, like the Peregrine Falcon, soaring high above the depths of the canyon.

Your program is designed to give you a day-long trip through this stunning landscape, twisting and turning along the Rio Grande and its rapids up to Class IV. With a healthy blend of calm and choppy waters, you will get the chance to appreciate all types of river rafting. Big Bend National Park is a beautiful country to float past, especially the area around the profound Santa Elena Canyon.

You can expect to start the day early, hitting the rapids in the morning to give you a full day of rushing water. Looking to either side of the canyon, you can see both the Mexican and United States sides of the border. The rapids are a combination of Classes I, II, and III, so you can build your way to the pace of the Class IV rapid after lunch.

Known as the Rock Slide, this rapid was created when boulders from above crumbled into the canyon. It is an exhilarating experience that is rewarded with a gentle cruise across the last portion of the trip. You will see Smuggler’s Cave carved into the daunting heights of the canyon walls, a beautiful and memorable snapshot to commemorate your program.

This program is open to everyone. If you have an interest in geology or geography, this is an active, fun, and safe way to experience the iconic territory of West Texas. Our top notch training and guidance will leave you with an unforgettable program you will certainly want to experience again.

Guide cancelled within 48 hrs and I was unable to find someone else and so far I’ve not been refunded. Put a small dent in my otherwise great trip to Revelstoke.

Guide was very experienced and very patient with us. We learned alot and he tried to fit in all the knowledge he could in one day, super awesome. A little tough going back and forth to get the trip set up hard to tell if the site is sketchy until you see reviews but all worked out. Ended up with an awesome day with an awesome guide. Overall pretty satisfied and thankful!
