Description

The Regina Margherita hut (4,554m) in the Alps of Italy, atop the Punta Gnifetti is famous for a variety of reasons. Not only is the hut named after an Italian Queen, Margherita of Savoy, but it is also the highest building in all of Europe!

On this trip we invite you to embark on a 2-day journey to Capanna Margherita, the highest refuge in Europe, where you'll be captivated by awe-inspiring panoramas that stretch beyond the horizon. This is an extraordinary experience that promises to leave a lasting impression.

Over 2 days and in a progressive manner, you will learn the basic techniques of rope formation and progression in a glacial environment. You will learn how to use ice axes and crampons and how to coordinate with your climbing partners. No previous experience is required, only good physical training.

Our adventure begins on day 1 with a meeting in Stafal, Gressoney, between 10:00 and 12:00 in the late morning. We’ll take the lifts heading up to Punta Indren (in some cases, the meeting point is at Punta Indren).

We'll stay overnight at either the Gnifetti or Mantova Refuge, and next day an early start awaits as we wake before sunrise, have breakfast, and set off for Punta Gnifetti (4,554m). Upon arrival at Capanna Margherita, we'll enjoy a well-deserved snack or lunch.

Afterward, we'll return to the refuge (Gnifetti or Mantova) before descending via the Punta Indren cable car.

The Margherita hut is a special place. And it would our pleasure to guide you to it, so you can see and feel just how special it really is. If you’re interested, please send us a request.
