Description

Certainly one of the best named mountains in the Julian Alps, Razor (2,601m) is a great climb. And this amazing peak invites climbers not just because of its thrilling name, but also by the sheer presence it projects. Yet, despite those attributes, the mountain is actually lesser known than other peaks in the range. However, the advantage to the mountain’s minimal popularity is less people climbing it when you decide to scale it. Thus making the experience of reaching its summit a more intimate affair.

We’ll be making the climb during the winter season, so the mountain will be covered in snow. But despite the winter conditions, climbing to the top of the Razor is actually not an overtly difficult climb. Hence making it accessible to people with limited previous climbing experience. However,  participants on this trip should be in good physical condition since the climb will take approximately 5 hours.

The trip will start from the Koca Hut (1,113m) in Krnica. From there, we will make the very scenic climb to the Razor’s summit. And from the apex of this great mountain, you will have some amazing views. Just a few examples of the sights includes the Luknja and Vrsic passes, and the Trenta valley. You will also be able to see several peaks as well, from Jalovec (2,645m) and Prisojnik (2,547m) to the famous Mount Triglav (2,864m).

So if you are looking for a winter climbing adventure on a peak that bears a name that just screams adventure, then join me on this full day trip to the top of the Razor! All you have to do is send me a request. I’ll be happy to guide you.

Would you like to climb a Slovenian peak in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps? Then let me lead you on this full day ascent of the Storzic mountain.

Mountain Guide

I’m a mountain guide based in Bled, Slovenia. Climbing and alpinism are a big part of my life and I feel like mountains are my second home.

I was introduced to the mountains by my father, a mountain rescuer and a romantic alpinist. He made sure that I don’t see the mountains only as a sports playground but also as a place where a person can enjoy and get to know himself better.

Living in the heart of the Slovenian Alps gave me a chance to develop all disciplines of alpinism: hard rock climbing and wild ridges in the summer, sketchy mixed climbing and ski touring in the winter. I am fortunate that climbing took me on expeditions all over the world, from Patagonia to Himalayas. Since being on the higher ground is my second home, becoming a mountain guide came naturally.

As a mountain guide I want to share my passion for mountains in a respectful and friendly way. What drives me is bringing the beauty of higher mountains and alpinism closer to people who want to enjoy higher peaks but need safe guiding.

Martin Zumer is an incredibly skilled climber who successfully guided me to the top of the Matterhorn. I felt safe with him for the entire trip, and I developed confidence in my own personal climbing abilities with his guidance.
