Discover the wild beauty of the Shiretoko Peninsula in this 1-day trekking to Mount Rausu, together with a JMGA mountain guide.
Shiretoko range
1 Day
Jun - Aug
Mount Rausu (1660 m) is the highest point on the peninsula of Shiretoko. Lying inside a wonderful and unspoiled National Park, this place is ideal for seeing how the habitat changes from a forest to a Dwarf Siberian pine (Pinus pumila) area and then a flower blossom field.
There’s not much altitude difference here, but we will see a large diversity of ecosystems. Besides, it is possible to see some islands that both Japan and Russia claim as their own territories.
For those who love trekking and wild nature, this tour will be a great opportunity to enjoy the Shiretoko Area in the summer time. So please contact me if you want to join me for this 1-day traverse!

Mountain Guide
I wish you a very warm welcome from Hokkaido, the north island of Japan. The dream spot for any fan of powder skiing!
I'm Jun, I'm a JMGA (Japan Mountain Guides Association) mountain and ski guide. I'm also a ski and telemark instructor. I graduated from the Hokkaido University. I have been skiing all around Hokkaido and I know every corner of this incredible island. I'm also an expert in avalanche safety management.
I'm guiding my friends and clients in all the most beautiful places of Hokkaido: Shiretoko (UNESCO World Nature Heritage), Daisetsuzan National Park, Rishiri, Niseko, Yotei volcano, Asahikawa... hiking, skiing and mountaineering.
Have a look to the different tours I propose to have more info on what you can experience here and get in touch with me. I will be very happy to help you organising your trip and guide you in our beautiful mountains. I'm also the director of the Hokkaido Mountain Guides Association (HMGA) which includes around 84 guides.

Jun was amazing! He has a very deep understanding of where the good now is. After a few days of high temperatures, it was difficult to experience the famous "Japow", but he did! The 3 days we spent with him, he managed to find the good snow every time! He also knows the mountains very well, takes the good safety precautions, and is just a very pleasant person to have as a guide! Thanks a lot Jun!

Great 2 days with Jun Isiguro : first day off-pist and second day backcountry. As a family of 4 with different levels in fresh and deep snow and tree runs on telemark, we feel very at ease with Jun-San. Thanks to him, we now have great memories of our holidays in Hokkaido !
