Description

This extended Tacha backcountry tour in Georgia is for the daring and will take you on our classic Racha circuit first, and then allow you to choose from three amazing options.

The classic Racha circuit is an amazing backcountry skiing or splitboarding program in the Caucasus mountains designed to perfectly combine some intensive skiing in the mountains, and some cozy rest days in the historical villages of Shovi, Chiora, and Glola. It will give you a delicious taste of the mountains, the Georgia lines, and varied ski terrains,  and of the local culture.

Once this segment of the program is completed, then you have three options:

  • A long-distance tour in the Uravi area: this is a beautiful, remote tour of around 25km that will take you on untouched terrain from Racha to Lower Svaneti.
  • Further exploration of the Shovi-Ghebi circuit: this option consists of an extension of the classic 8-day Racha circuit in which you will have the chance to spend more time in a location that truly boasts amazing options for backcountry skiing and splitboarding.
  • Wild exploration: this alternative will take us into the unknown, to discover a list of places that are untouched and waiting for us to take a peek.

Whichever your preference, let us know and we will plan an amazing adventure together. Keep in mind that the itinerary that we propose is subject to snow and group conditions. Send us a request today and we will happily guide you on this unforgettable extended Racha backcountry tour in Georgia!

Remote and long distance. Total length of the tour is about 25KM through some incredibly beautiful terrain. Here, almost every line is unridden. This tour will take you all the way from Racha to the neighbouring, Lower Svaneti, where we will be waiting to pick you up on the other side. 3 days minimum.

Day 9 to 12: OPTION 2- SHOVI-GHEBI

Another option for your remaining days. There is a good chance there may be locations where conditions are amazing and you want to stay longer, you want to spend more time to ride some specific lines, or there are just more locations you want to hit. There is more than enough terrain in this region for an entire season!

Day 9 to 12: OPTION 3- UNEXPLORED LOCATIONS

We’ve got a big list of unexplored locations. We have no idea what we will find there. It may not even be possible to access, or extremely difficult. That’s what makes it fun! If that sounds like something you are interested in, we can organize an expedition to a new unexplored area, maybe even a place that no one has ever skied in before.

Guide Agency

We specialise in wild backcountry ski touring trips. We choose our guides based mainly on their proficiency in avalanche safety as we operate in remote areas without a regular avalanche forecast. Usually for each trip we try to have one IFMGA guide plus one avalanche forecaster with high levels of qualifications in that area.

Our clients are mainly two types: People who are learning to skitour but have not taken the step to try winter camping and overnight tours, and would like to have that kind of adventure, and very independent groups who would like the chance to ride big, unridden lines or who are just wanting to totally escape crowds.

Celso

Amazing backcountry skiing trip. Great adventure off the beaten path. Cool guides and crew. We were also extremely lucky with the weather (always blue sky) and snow conditions. Explore-share service team got a few things messed up during booking, but were quickly solved later. All in all a great experience.
