On this 8-day hiking tour in Provence, you will discover some of the most stunning spots of southeast France as we traverse through the Luberon and Alpilles regions and explore gorgeous landscapes, authentic local villages, and beautiful medieval landmarks.
Provence is famous for its stone house villages, flower fields, rolling hills, historical sites, and delicious cuisine and wines. On the itinerary that we will follow, we will be based in the Luberon and Alpilles regions, located 70 km north of Marseille. These regions are famous for their rugged limestone hills, forests, olive groves, quaint Medieval villages, and famous stone "bories". Artists such as Cézanne and Van Gogh found inspiration in the hills and valleys of these unforgettable locations, and so will we, as we hike through a selection of some of the top spots in the region.
We will spend the first nights in Luberon, in a comfortable hotel in Bonnieux, a charming ancient village that will give us quick access to beautiful hiking trails that are no more than a 45-minute drive away. Some of the hikes we will enjoy include:
Buoux village circuit: the tiny village is protected by a cirque of spectacular orange and grey cliffs and a well-preserved ancient fort.
Ascent to the Grand Luberon summit of the Mourre Nègre
Explore troglodyte dwellings carved into the cliffs where we will find the famous Provence “bories”.
Then, for the last 2 hiking days, we will move to St Remy in the Alpilles massif. We will stay in the old part of town in a cozy guesthouse. Some of the hikes we can enjoy in the region include the Tour des Opies route to the highest point of the range and visiting some historical sites such as Les Baux-de-Provence and the Glanum Roman site.
Keep in mind that the itinerary is flexible. The hikes will be 8 to 14km (5-8 miles) long with an elevation gain and descent of around 400 to 800m (1300 – 2600ft). We will adapt the program to the group's energy levels and to the weather. You will need a good fitness level and good hiking shoes with sturdy soles to tackle rough terrain.

I am a long-time qualified Hiking Guide, based permanently in France.
British with French nationality, bi-lingual.
Blessed with great enthusiasm to walk in the hills and mountains, to find quiet and calm, and to see what is round the next bend, on the other side of the hill.
I have been guiding treks and hikes in Europe for over 30 years. I now concentrate on offering trips in France, in the Southern Alps, the alpine foothills of the Vercors, and Provence, where I live.
I love to take my guests to places off the well-known trails, and to secret spots with fabulous views.
For me, hiking is where I find silence, calm, and the joy of seeing wildlife, the excitement of rare spring flowers, and the anticipation of the next view. I love to immerse my groups in all aspects of the area, from the local history and culture to the gastronomy and local specialties.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
