The Aconcagua mountain is the highest of the Andes range. At 6,962 m it is a challenge for many mountaineers. On this 5-day trek I will guide you to the Plaza Francia and Plaza de Mulas where you will be able to revel in the stunning views of this South American landmark.
Plaza Francia will be our first objective. It is technically not too challenging and at 4200m altitude, easy to adapt to. We will enjoy the stunning views and spend the night at this spot, then, the following morning, we will set off to Plaza de Mulas at 4250 m. This stunning location is slightly more challenging to climb to and is also the largest base camp in the world after Everest. Consequently, you will be able to meet other travellers and mountaineers that you can share your experience of the Andes with.
This Aconcagua trek is an intermediate climb that requires some previous mountaineering experience. The most important though is that you have a good fitness level. Of course, I will be there to help and guide you the whole way!
Are you ready to join me on a unique adventure in the Andes? Then book your place now on this exciting trek to Plaza Francia and Plaza de Mulas in Aconcagua and enjoy the experience of a lifetime!
Short on time? I also offer a three day trek to Plaza Francia.
You will need to be in Mendoza one day before the trek so that we can get your Aconcagua Park permits. It is also a good chance to purchase your ticket to Penitentes in advance.
You will kick start the day by taking a bus to Penitentes. This is not included as part of the trip price and will take around 3 hours. Once you arrive, we will greet you and introduce you to the rest of the tour participants. Then, we will take a private tour bus to the Horcones Aconcagua Park entrance. From there we will set off on our 4 hour trek until we reach Confluencia Camp where we will relax and spend the night. Included: accommodation, lunch box and dinner.
In the morning, we will set off to the Plaza Francia Aconcagua South Wall base camp. We will enjoy stunning sights and trek for approximately 6 hours.
Included: accommodation, lunch box and dinner.
On day 3 of our expedition, we will set off to Plaza de Mulas. The trek will be slightly more challenging. It will take us through Playa Ancha, Horcones Superior Valley and Cuesta Brava.
Included: Accommodation, breakfast, lunchbox, dinner
On our rest day in Plaza de Mulas we will have the chance to visit the Horcones Superior Glacier and also to watch the beautiful Aconcagua West Wall sunset.
Included: accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
After breakfast, we will pack up and set off to Horcones. Then, a private van will drive us back to Penitentes. On the way, if we have time, we might also stop at Puente de Inca. Included: breakfast and lunchbox.
