Pinnacle Ridge: Scrambling day in the Lake District, England

Offering a miniature Alpine experience in the heart of the Lake District, Pinnacle Ridge is one of the best scrambling spots in all of England!

Rated as a Level 3 scramble, which is the most challenging both mentally and physically, Pinnacle Ridge is perfect for intermediate scramblers looking to test themselves and improve their skills. It can be done without previous scrambling experience too, if you are up for the challenge.

Over the course of our day together, we will cover some of the topics that will lead to a successful scramble, such as movement skills, route finding tips, reading the rock, technique to move more efficiently and rope techniques.

Out on the rocks, we will head over various ridges until we make it to the pinnacle. The main attraction of this route is the corner pitch (shown in the pictures above), which leads on to the main pinnacle.

Depending on your ability, some parts of the route can be skipped in order to ensure that everyone makes it to the top. However, this last part is the real “meat” of the route and we recommend everyone give this bit a try.
