The Pikey Peak trek takes place in the Everest region of Nepal and is a great alternative for those who wish to experience the Himalaya mountain culture in a short span of time. Pikey Peak boasts an altitude of (4070 m./ 13353 ft.) and is a unique place to view the sunrise and the surrounding mountains, including Mt. Everest, Makalu, Gaurishanker, Lhotse, Numbur, AmaDablam, Nuptse, Kanchenjunga, Langtang & Dhaulagiri. On this adventure, we will not only climb to the top of Pikey Peak but also explore the surrounding valleys and villages.
We will set off from Kathmandu, where we will have a chance to explore the landmarks and monasteries. Then we will head to Dhap, from where we will begin our trek. Every day, we will trek for approximately 6 hours as we explore the beautiful Everest region. You can find a detailed itinerary below.
Keep in mind that you will need a good fitness level to join this adventure. However, you do not need technical skills to climb Pikey peak. Of course, we will be there to help and guide you on the way!

Arrival in Kathmandu at any time according to your flight schedule. Our representative will transfer you to the hotel and you will receive a short trip briefing.
In the morning, our guide will meet you at the hotel and give you an overview of the day as well as check your gear. Later you will go on a guided cultural tour around the historical UNESCO World Heritage sites of Kathmandu: **Kathmandu Durbar Area-**the former Royal palace complex that holds several Temples, Monuments & old Palace with full of traditional arts & cultural landmarks. Kumari Temple (The living Goddess residence) is a major highlight of this area.
Next we visit Bouddhanath Stupa– probably the biggest Stupa of its kind in the world. We can find a large Tibetan population around the stupa as people consider this as Tibetan Stupa.
Later, we will visit the Swyambhunath Stupa– another highly respected Buddhist site in Kathmandu. Located over a ridge in the northwest corner of the city, Swayambhunath Stupa offers breathtaking views of Kathmandu Valley, green hills & mountains in the distance. It is also known as Monkey Temple among foreigners because a large number of monkeys live there.

We will drive early in a Jeep (SUV) from Kathmandu to Dhap. This long (approx 8/9 hrs) drive will take us through several villages, rivers, woodland & hills before reaching Dhap. O/N at Local lodge.
We will begin a wonderful trek towards Japre. After a couple of hours, the awesome views of the Himalayan range will come into sight. Finally, we will arrive at Jhapre which offers a beautiful view of Mt. Everest. O/N at Local lodge.
We will approach Pikey Peak from Jiprey. We will continue to admire fabulous views of the Mountains as we walk past the Rhododendron forest. The whole area will be blooming with flowers if you make this trip in spring. There are a couple of lodges for O/N stay.
Early in the morning, we will set off to the Pikey Peak (4070 m.) summit to catch sight of an incredible sunrise over the Himalaya. It will take about an hour to get on the top. From the summit, you will enjoy views of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Gaurishanker, Lhotse, Numbur, AmaDablam, Nuptse, Kanchenjunga, Langtang & Dhaulagiri. It’s worth spending a few moments on top, capturing awesome pictures.
Later, we will return to the lodge for breakfast then continue walking towards Junbesi. You will walk past many beautiful villages and Buddhist Monasteries before reaching Junbesi- a popular village in the area; O/N at Local lodge.
We will stay at Junbesi and go on a day trip to Thupten Chholing Monastery- a very famous Buddhist holy place where you can interact & meditate along with nuns that live there. Later, we will return to Junbesi and rest. O/N Local lodge.
We will proceed towards Phaplu via Chiwang Monastery. The Monastery is another famous Buddhist site in the region with a deep-rooted history. During the Mani Rimdu festival, a gala celebration will take place and many monks & followers will make their way to Chiwang Monastery. Later, we will continue walking down to Phaplu, where we will spend the night before flying to Kathmandu on the next day; O/N at Local lodge.
After breakfast, we will catch a 40-min flight back to Kathmandu. You can also hire an SUV/ Car and drive to Kathmandu in about 8/ 9 hours. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will have time to rest and relax. O/N at hotel in Kathmandu.
Breakfast at the hotel, & transfer to Airport on time for your final departure.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much.
