Description

One of the many sensational mountains in the Spanish Pyrenees, the Peña Telera (2,764m), otherwise known as the Great Diagonal, is a fantastic climb!

The Peña Telera is located in the Partacua range of the Pyrenees, which separates the Peña valley and Biescas. It stands tall in the province of Huesca.

The starting point of this climb will be established prior to the start. However, one of the more typical, and wonderful, spots to start is the village of Piedrafita de Jaca. Near the village is a beautiful glacial lake that bears the same name.

From our starting point, we will begin our ascent of the Peña Telera. While the best climbing period is the spring, this peak is nonetheless still icy and snowy. As a result, our route will be heavily influenced by weather and snow conditions. However, despite the possibility of weather related challenges, reaching the summit of Peña Telera is actually not that difficult. Hence why participants on this trip do not need to be climbing experts.  But you should be in good physical condition. While the climb can be done in a single day, to make it easier, it can also be extended to more than one day.

With so many great peaks in the Pyrenees, it is hard to choose which one is the best to climb. However, the Peña Telera is definitely one of the better choices. Not too difficult, with some fantastic views, ascending this peak will be a memorable experience. So send me a request. I look forward to guiding you!

I also lead a one day ascent to the summits of the stunning Picos del Infierno massif in the Pyrenees as well.

Slightly changed plans, but I had a great trip to the Via Ferrata in Canfranc Estacion. Jorge delivered highly skilled guiding and was also a very pleasant hiking buddy!

Ryan

Juan Carlos was an exceptional guide and quite a great help at different points throughout the trip. When my primary guide couldn’t make it, Juan Carlos stepped up. He helped me get a more-fitting set of crampons for the trip, he helped along the route, and he accommodated when I asked to break, move faster, or divert. Many guides I’ve had in the passed did what they wanted. He respected my experience and my asks. This was a great trip, we pushed through the questionable weather, and made it to the summit.

Julien

I succesfully climbed Vignemale with David even if i had vertigo. David is very experienced and was able to bring me to the summit and back without a scratch. Thank you , amazing experience I highly recommend.

A HUGE thank you for all your help in the build up to our Monte Perdido attempt yesterday! Our guide Luis (from Javier's team) was absolutely brilliant and helped us reach the summit unscathed (despite the snowy conditions - which were apparently not ideal for amateurs!).

Luis was the guide Javier organised. He was very professional, guided us to the top (and back) seamlessly, set a pace that suited both of us. He also pointed out various points of interest. Would definitely recommend Luis. Also, Javier was very helpfull in providing information for another area I was visiting.
