If you are looking to take a break from city life, then you will find the relaxing and serene atmosphere of Montserrat at just 50 kilometers from Barcelona to be ideal. Join me on this one day hike to Sant Jeroni (1,236 m) and reach the highest point of this amazing site!
Located near the city of Barcelona, in Catalonia, Montserrat is a peculiar and gorgeous mountain range. Every year it attracts thousands of people from all over the world as it is home to one of the most important religious sites in Spain, the Virgin of Montserrat Abbey.
However, Montserrat is more than just a holy site. It also delights hikers and nature lovers who are seeking for new adventures. During this one day program, I invite you to follow me to the highest summit of Montserrat: Sant Jeroni (1,236 m). From the top, you will catch spectacular views of the monastery, of the colorful countryside below and on clear days, you may even see Mallorca!
To get to the summit, we will first take the train that goes up to the famous Montserrat Abbey. Then, from the top station of the Funicular Sant Joan, we will follow a path that will take us to the summit of this magical spot. After enjoying the views, we will start our return and climb down through the “stairs of the poor people”.
Because this is not a very demanding trip, we welcome all people to join us, regardless of hiking experience and level. Of course, you will need to be physically fit for the ascent. The hike can be done all year round, but it’s more enjoyable during autumn, spring and winter. In summer we can take the train to St Joan that will save us 40 minutes of hiking under the sun.
So are you ready to reach the highest point of Montserrat? Then send your request and join me on this one day hike where you will discover this stunning Catalonia landmark.
And, if you are looking for more unforgettable experiences in Spain, you can also check out this One day hike around the Benasque Valley located in the Aragonese Pyrenees.

This trip may take place on the 1st and 15th of every month.

Lisi was the perfect guide, and made all the difference. She is extremely experienced, and knows the entire region inside-out. She was always very helpful and proactively generated ideas for the hikes. As the weather conditions changed in the run up to the trip, she had to adapt, and always did this wonderfully, with great ideas and always having on mind our capabilities and wishes. Besides all of this, she is a wonderful person, extremely friendly, and it was a true pleasure doing this trip with her. I can only highly recommend her.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
