Description

This ski touring program in Niseko is suitable for ski tourers of all levels. Join me and take full advantage of Hokkaido's amazing snow conditions!

You'll choose the best 5 days out of a week to go ski touring. And then, I'll take you to the best spots in the Niseko mountains. The goal is for you to be able to pick the days with the best snow and weather conditions, so that you can fully profit our days together.

Snow conditions in Hokkaido are famous around the world. And Niseko is particular is known as Japan's powder paradise. You won't find better powder anywhere on Earth!

Even if you've never been ski touring before, I can propose a program adapted to your pace, experience and skills. If you are a beginner, I can teach you everything you need to know about ascent techniques and using avalanche equipment. I can also give you some pointers on how to ski in deep powder snow.

This is your chance to experience Hokkaido's mythical powder snow in the company of a local guide. Contact me and I'll be glad to take you to the very best slopes in Niseko's backcountry terrain.

I also offer several other ski touring programs in this area. If you feel you're ready for a challenging ascent, check out my Mt Yotei backcountry program.

Ski Guide

Hello! I’m a qualified Austrian mountain ski guide, a ski instructor as well as a alpine and ski guide with the Japan Mountain Guide Association (JMGA). I’ve lived 7 years in Austria, mainly as a ski instructor. I then became a mountain ski patrol in Tateyama in Japan, a heli ski guide in New Zealand, a chief guide at Niseko Hanazono Powder Guides, an assistant director of Niseko International snow sports school, and ultimately have started ski guiding independently since 2013.

I value the fundamentals of skiing as sports; to enjoy the snow mountains in a stylish, free and safe manner, in both private and as work. The best outcome is when both the client and guide can have fun, and for this, I am quite particular about not only guiding but also in technical / skills aspects and selection of appropriate equipment. I am an alpine skier but also enjoy telemark skiing. In summer, I have enjoyed surfing for a long time. Whether it be on waves, on mountains or on asphalt, if there’s enough steepness then I love to ‘glide’, which is my motto.

Please join me in gliding my backyard - which is the front and backcountry of Niseko!

What people are saying about Jun

We had an excellent trip, however, Expolre share said we would have Jun as our local guide - this was switched last minute from Jun to Tim - Tim was excellent (the guide rating of 5 is for Tim, not for Jun), but we had no information about Tim's background or credentials to assess before the trip. In the future, explore share should let us know in advance if there is a guide change and provide background and credentials.

The "Guided powder ski tour" was amazing, also thanks to your brilliant and professional guide Gunther Winkel also a big thanks to Jun Horie for the skitouring equipment. On behalf Daniel and myself we want to thank you for a very professional guided powder ski tour, showing us Niseko in the best way of ski touring.

Chris

I skied with Kehoe Seki, who took my up Mt Iwaonupuri. He is among the most knowledgeable, helpful and friendly guides I've skied with. I highly recommend.
