Experience the magic of Nevado Qampa as we make the ascent to the summit over three days. Situated in the Vilcanotas Range of the Andes, the views we’ll get from the top are beautiful and unforgettable.
We’ll pick you up from Cusco to start our journey to the mountains. On our first day, we’ll focus on climbing to base camp, getting to grips with our equipment and resting before an early start the next day.
On the second day, we’ll take on the summit. The climb is technically not so difficult, however, we will have to hike on a glacier. We’ll provide you with all the equipment you need for this, but it will be physically demanding. You’ll need a good level of fitness for this trip.
When we reach the summit we’ll take some time to truly absorb the magic of being that high up and enjoy the views. We’ll even be able to see Salkantay, the highest peak in the Vilcabamba mountain range, from the summit.
That evening we’ll enjoy a meal together back at base camp and reflect on our day’s achievement.
This is a special trip as you’ll be surrounded by majestic mountains. It’s also a great way to get started with mountaineering. Don’t wait, request to book today!
If you are looking for a longer expedition, be sure to check out my 15-day expedition in the mountains in the Cordillera Blanca.
We’ll pick you up at your hotel at around 7 am. Driving through the countryside and passing through the city of Urcos we’ll then arrive at Ocongate. Here we’ll be able to buy last minute supplies before continuing on to Pacchanta. Our crew, the muleteers and cook who’ll be helping us on our expedition, will also meet us there. We’ll eat lunch before starting the four hour trek to base camp. The views from base camp of the surrounding mountains like Ausangate and Cayangate are amazing . There are also lamas and alpacas there. That afternoon we’ll give you your equipment and brief you on how to use it, particularly on the glacier. Dinner will be served at 6 pm then it’ll be an early night.
Day 2 will be a very early start (3am to be precise) because it’s summit day.
We’ll start by climbing for two hours by moraine until we arrive at the glacier. It will take three hours of hiking the glacier to arrive at the snowy summit of Qampa. We’ll spend 30 minutes soaking in the magic of the summit, taking photos and resting before we return to base camp. It’ll be lunchtime when we get there, then you’ll be able to enjoy a free afternoon. We’ll all meet for a special dinner at 6pm to reflect on our day of achievement.
After a light breakfast we’ll hike towards Pacchanta at around 9 am. In Pacchanta you can go to thermal baths or buy handicrafts. We’ll then have lunch and after that we’ll drop you back at your hotel in Cusco.

He was very kind, patient and helped me to reach my goal the citadel of Machupicchu. One day I wanted to quit but he encouraged me to continue and waited for my step.
We did the MTB-Huarascan-Circuit (Crossing Punta Olimpica Pass and Portachuelo de Llanganuco Pass) with Eric Albinos „Peru Expedition“. All, the transfers, the hotel stays, the acclimatization tours and the circuit itself, was well organized. Eric and his staff were flexible to our wishes and very helpful. Our Guide Joni is an excellent mountain bike-guide and good tailor too if something is torn. The cook prepared delicious meals during the circuit. The camping equipment was in very good condition. We (Karin, Franz. Wolfgang) can fully recommend „Eric´s Peru Expeditions“.

The agency gave me a guide Darwin, not Juventino. Climb was good, easy just walking. There is one dangerous section near the moraine area with very loose gravel. So make sure you don't slip there or you are dead. I stayed in refugio at the base camp which was much more comfy than camping. Darwin was good but give clients some breaks once in a while, not rush too much. It's a high altitude climbing after all.
5 star guide. Nothing but the best.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
