Let me take you to the best multi-pitch climbing spots in the Karwendel mountains during this 3-day program! You will have the opportunity to improve your climbing skills while learning important multi-pitch climbing techniques that will help you improve your strength and stamina as a climber.
This trip takes place in the Karwendel mountains, a range of the Alps that spans Austria and Germany. We will depart from the Austrian town of Scharnitz, which is located to the north of the city of Innsbruck. From there, we will head into the mountains to enjoy three days of blissful climbing.
You will have the opportunity to practice on a climbing garden before and after you send multi-pitch routes. This is a great spot for those new to multi-pitch climbing, as there are many well protected routes with short ascents. During the program, I will provide instruction on climbing technique, equipment, and safety, which will further your formation as a climber. Specific topics include: stand construction and change, securing routes with mobile securing devices, rappelling, mountain rescue techniques, first aid, and Alpine dangers.
To participate in this program, you should already have climbing experience on a climbing garden and a familiarity with climbing equipment and rappelling.
Reserve your spot now, and I guarantee you will receive top-notch instruction that will help you progress as a climber, all while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Austrian Alps!
We will meet at 10am in the town of Scharnitz. We will then proceed by car or bike and then by foot to our base in the mountains, the Hallerangerhaus refuge, which will be our lodge for the next two nights.
Once we settle in, we will head to the climbing garden of Durchschlag.
In the evening, I will share tips and other useful information that will help you progress as a sport climber.
Today, we head to the mountains for multi-pitch climbing.
Once we send our route, we will descend either by foot or by rappelling. If there is time left, we will return to the climbing garden for more instruction.
Depending on your interest, we will either practice sport climbing or multi-pitch routes in the climbing garden.
We will begin our descent in the early afternoon, arriving back in Scharnitz around 4pm.

Mountain Guide
IFMGA/IVBV Certified mountain, ski and canyoning guide, member of DAV and VDBS mountaineering and sport climbing teaching and training team. I’ve been part of the VDBS team for the formation and training of German mountain guides for 20 years.
I started climbing at the age of 17. Since 1987 I am certified mountain guide and a passion has become a profession. I live in Scharnitz / Tyrol and I am leader of the moutaineering school Alpenwelt Karwendel in Mittenwald.
Ice climbing in norway, skitouring in morocco, rock climbing in cuba or high mountains in the himalaya - I like it to explore new areas around the world. I led a DAV training expedition for talented young mountaineers in the Tian Shan mountain range with climbing Khan Tengri and did several expeditions to the karakorum mountains and the himalayas.
As a full-time mountain guide, I feel at home in the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains as well as in the mountains and climbing areas worldwide. I am happy to accompany you as a guide to your desired goal!
