Come climb one of the most iconic routes in Arizona: the Praying Monk formation located on the northern slope of the popular Camelback Mountain!
Camelback Mountain is a favorite destination for Phoenix residents looking to spend time outdoors. It is a great place to practice a number outdoor activities from hiking, to trail running, to rock climbing, all while appreciating the incredible natural beauty of the state of Arizona. It is clear why city residents designated the natural landmark an official “Phoenix Point of Pride.”
Look closely at the red standstone formation which rises from the side of Camelback Mountain and you will see a robed monk on his knees bowed in prayer. Among Phoenix climbers, the Praying Monk is considered a classic route, especially for those just getting their first taste of multi-pitch climbing. After sending the bolted route, climbers have the chance to stand on top of the formation and enjoy an incredible view of the city spread out below.
This half-day trip is the perfect chance to further your climbing skills and techniques. In fact, if you’re a beginning climber this is a great opportunity to conquer your first multi-pitch climb! After we meet I will give you a brief overview of the route and help you with gear fitting. Then, we set off for the trailhead, where a short hike takes us to the base of the climb. Once the ropes are ready, we begin our adventure! You can expect the trip to last about 4 hours.
Book now and I guarantee a fun outdoor experience exploring one of the most iconic climbing routes in Phoenix!
