If you’re looking for a weekend trip, check out our 3-day trekking and canyoning trip in the Valjevo Mountains in Serbia.
We’ll pick you up from Dubrovnik Airport and head straight to Sutjeska National Park. This is the oldest and largest national park in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is a large population of brown bears that live here, as well as other wildlife. There we’ll find Mount Volujak, the setting for our first hike. We’ll follow the path to the summit, named Kuk. After a few hours of trekking, we’ll head to Tjentiste where we’ll stay for the night.
On this day, we tackle our first big ascent: the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Maglić. We’ll have a good breakfast first before heading off, and the ascent will take us around 4 hours. We’ll descend via the Trnovo Lake, where we’ll be able to rest before continuing back down.
That evening we’ll have a nice hearty meal in our accommodation in Tjentiste and get a good nights sleep.
Day three is all about rafting. You’ll get to enjoy an awesome adrenaline rush as you shoot through the Tara River Canyon on the Tara River. This canyon is actually considered to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After a few hours of rafting, we’ll have lunch on the river bank. Then you’ll have some free time to spend as you wish before we head back to the accommodation to rest.
Day four takes us to Montenegro. We’ll spend the morning hiking around Durmitor’s beautiful glacial lakes.
There are 18 glacier lakes in this area, including the largest, Black Lake. Collectively these lakes are known as the “eyes of the mountain.” These lakes are stunning, and we’ll enjoy the beautiful views as we walk.
In the afternoon, we’ll rest for a big day of hiking to follow.
Bobotov peak is the highest moutain in Durmitor, and on day five, we’ll climb it. We’ll cover an altitude difference of around 700 meters as we climb. We’ll also tackle the final section secured by steel cables. When we reach the top, there will be be time for celebrations and photos.
We’ll descend to Žabljak, where we’ll stay for the night and enjoy a good nights sleep.
On day 6, we’ll visit Trebinje. We’ll explore this charming riverside side town on a guided tour. This town was once a significant trading centre and is home to enormous old mills.
We’ll finish the day with a trip to the Tvrdoš monastery, where we’ll be able to sample some of the wine they make there.
On your last day, we’ll drop you back to Dubrovnik Airport after your breakfast.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
