Join me in this climbing adventure to explore Huarapasca, a towering mountain in the heart of the Andes that rises up to an impressive height of 5,410 meters (17,749 feet). If you're looking for a thrilling climbing experience that is both accessible and exciting, look no further, this stunning natural wonder is the perfect destination for those seeking technical wall climbing adventures that are both challenging and fun.
With its 3 pitches of 60 meters (106 feet) each, ranging from 60° to 65°, Huarapasca provides a challenging yet manageable climbing experience. This mountain is the perfect place to gain confidence and experience in ice climbing techniques, thanks to its varied and dynamic terrain.
We'll set out at the crack of dawn and begin our drive towards the southern outskirts of Huaraz. Once there, we will be able to behold the stunning snow-capped peaks that await us. We'll get ready to conquer their trails as we prepare our gear and begin to climb through some rocky terrain until we reach the base of the glacier.
After a 1 km (3,280 feet) ascent, the real adventure will begin. We'll face 3 pitches of technical climbing with the help of our harness, crampons and rope and make our way to the summit. As you reach new heights, the surreal yet peaceful atmosphere of the surrounding glaciers, glistening in the sunlight, will invigorate you and push you towards our ultimate goal.
Reaching the summit is an amazing feeling; the panoramic view that surrounds Huarapasca is simply breathtaking, with the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Blanca range dominating the northern skyline and the imposing snow mount Yerupajá, the second-highest mountain after Huascaran in Cordillera Blanca. After a memorable photoshoot, we will return through the same route to the city of Huaraz.

Very early in the morning we leave with our private transport to the south side of the city of Huaraz for an approximate time of 3 hours to the base of Huarapasca mountain, which stands at an altitude of 4800 m.
From here we prepare the backpacks and begin to climb a rocky terrain of approx. 1 km. until we reach the base of the glacier where we will put on our crampons, harness and rope ourselves to begin our ascent.
We start with the 3 pitches of technical climbing and then reach the plate and continue ascending to the summit that offers a splendid panoramic view of many snow-capped peaks. Additionally, we'll catch a glimpse of the Cordillera Huayhuash, with its magnificent snow-covered mount Yerupajá, the second-highest peak in the Cordillera Blanca after Huascaran. After capturing some amazing photos, we will return by the same route to the city of Huaraz.

Mountain Guide
I was born at the foot of Huascaran, Peru’s highest peak. I spent my childhood preparing for a career as a mountain guide. I began working as a porter on big expeditions all around the Cordillera Blanca range to earn both money and the necessary experience to begin my accreditation process towards a prestigious UIAGM Certification.
As my training for this, I spent most of my years from my early 20’s in the mountains as an aspirant guide, apprenticing under others and developing my own strength, style, and techniques as a guide.
Having earned the title of UIAGM mountain guide, I have worked on just about every peak in the National Park with groups from around the globe and continues to do so with patience and professionalism in all aspects of the job.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
