Description
The You Yangs Regional Park near Melbourne is a glorious and naturally beautiful part of Australia, and I will guide you as we spend a full day mountain biking around this awesome place, home to a wide array of mountain biking trails that wind their way around the quintessential Aussie landscape, scenery and terrain.
You Yangs Regional Park is located in the Australian state of Victoria, approximately 55km Southwest of the capital city of Melbourne, and contains a vast range of native Australian animals such as kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, wallabies and kookaburras. It is becoming increasingly popular due to its reputation for great mountain biking conditions.
Our day begins when we meet in Melbourne, and from there we then drive to the park, where all relevant general and safety information will be dispensed.
It is then time to hit the trails, and the sheer choice of tracks to ride on is fantastic, as they range from easy and gentle dirt roads to challenging and wild downhill descents.
Two of the main areas that prove popular are the Stockyards, which houses the more difficult downhill and cross-country tracks through rugged and rocky terrain, and The Kurrajong Plantation, a more casual experience that winds its way around the tranquil and idyllic scenery around us.
Huge granite boulders dot the landscape of the park, creating a stark and dramatic setting, and the abundance of native Australian flora and fauna creates a peaceful vibe and atmosphere.
After an entire day of biking we then head back to Melbourne, thrilled and happy at having tackled some of the best mountain biking trails in the country.
